2003 E46 318i decat

Hi there all fanatics,

Now I know that this question has been asked a few time on this forum but i can't seem to find any recent posts about. I want to decat my 2003 E46 318i(105kW). I've read alot of different articles about what should be done and most of them contradict each other.

My question is, when the cat has been taken out, should there be some sort of by-pass performed(ECU remapped or foolers installed) so that the sensors don't cripple the car or can they just cut out the section and weld in a straight pipe? Also where in the Pretoria area is the best place to take my car for this kind of work? And if anyone has prices that would be awesome as well.

Welman, when they remove the converters, they have to put the lamda sensors back. how they do it is up to them. But mostly, they just melt a hole in the down-pipes and fit thread so the lambdas can go back into the pipes.
Remember, the lambda sensor is an oxygen sensor. It indicates to your ECU how rich or how lean your combustion is.

Reason I ask is if you just remove the ones in the exhaust pipe, then you dont need to put in the "foolers", but if you plan to take out the ones in the branches, then you will need to do the "foller" mod.

You drive untill they begin to smell like roten eggs, then you remove them. :thumb:
If you only do the ones in the exhaust pipes, then take the car to Noys Boys in Hatfield, c/o Park and Grosvenor street, speak to Kobus.
They do a real neat job, you can ask Kartik on the forum, they did his, and it was under R600, and that was on the 325 E46.
