I appreciate that you are defending people who have less (or no) mechanical knowledge, however I cannot in good conscience advise someone to buy an E46 M3 (and a high mileage ones at that) without at least having a rudimentary understanding of what they are getting themselves into. Hence, I stand by all my comments in this thread. I think that is a fair position to adopt, and in the best interest of anyone wanting to pursue this dream.

I honestly don't think you need to apologise mate. I'm one of the people that has little technical know how. I have always been grateful that when I ask for advice that I get the blunt honest truth. And this kind of advice has always served me well in life.

If you are too scared that your feelings are going to get hurt when you ask for advice, then you will never get the truth about life. Candy coating will get you short term gain for long term pain.
