This E46 M3 belongs to the friend of one of my old high school buddies and Im in the process of replacing alot of tired and worn out components due to the high mileage the car has racked up. This is the first E46 I have come across with so much mileage and it has been rather well taken care of, she is in need of the "gizmo" treatment and thats exactly what she's going to get...

Quite the collection of mostly OEM parts to be fitted...

Rather different interior colour, Kiwi iirc.

Good mileage!

Aftermarket back box.

This side has the trim.

This side not.

Headlights not adjusting, I see why.

DME lid not correctly fitted.

K&N CAI.

Engine mounts are well used.

Battery mount not installed properly.

Backbox mounts broken.

Incorrect gearbox cross member bolts.

Guibo dead!

Small exhaust leak where the cats were removed.

Rear O2 sensors running mini cats.

Fuel filter dated 2011.

That mileage is insane! :praise:

Car will be good to go for many more miles after the Gizmo treatment :coolShake:

Power steering hose on its way out.

Tune Tech had overhauled the engine last year.

Heat shield out of shape in a few places.

Non factory mounting method.

Washers on plate to space it away from the exhaust?

Properly screwed!

Wait what! is that a E36 centre bearing?

Selector rod incorrectly installed and rubbing on the guibo.

319 000km ... oh my word ... how many times was this engine worked on? surely at this mileage it cant be the original motor?

EDIT: my bad ... read the overhauled part now

Great work gizmo. I've never seen a propshaft guibo so badly failed.

His seats need a proper good clean. Maybe it's just the pics and the strange leather.

I wonder if the bearings were replaced as the older e46 M3's had issues from what I understand!

I also wonder what was overhauled?

Im sure they were replaced as the car wouldn't have seen over 300 000km if they hadn't.

Why did Tune Tech not pick this up as well as they worked on the engine last year.

Or did the owner want the current work done elsewhere.

Car needs a good all round details as well

Nevermind the broken crossmember, wrong bolts, busted guibo and stuffed flange holes....

That gearbox shaft extension that is broken off is a major concern $$$

That is probably why the guibo went, because the prop doesnt have anything to centre itself on.

Even tho some of the components are faaaaaar#ked the car itself looks to be in pretty decent condition. Its also good to know that the E46 M3 is still "running" at that mileage :clapper:

The shaft that keeps the propshaft centred is broken off the output shaft of the gearbox, it caused an imbalance in the prop and that caused one guibo bolt to loosen and that wore the hole oval on the gearbox output flange. Gearbox is usesless without that shaft, anyone got a spare E46 M3 gearbox?
Also one guibo bolt is incorrect and one gearbox rubber mount is incorrectly installed. The cross member isn't broken though, amazing!
Also the gearbox selector shaft is installed the wrong way round and you can see where it was rubbing on the guibo.
Even Tune Tech can get it wrong by not telling the owner about the broken gearbox shaft, everyone makes mistakes...:blueCry:
