2000 E46 318i strong petrol smell

Hi guys,

So today I started noticing a strong petrol smell in my car. I filled up on Sunday & have done just over 200kms so far. Have been driving nicely for a change to try see how good consumption I can get.

Where could this leak be?

Does the E46 have a tank vent? Where is it? Maybe its blocked.

okay,dont know the e46 that well,so stab in the dark here.

had it on my golf,overfilled,and it ran out the overflow pipe,smel was there for awhile,and also when i turned left would go out the same pipe

Check for leaking fuel pipes in the engine bay or fuel filter, check under back seat under both cover plates.

Andrew, I have the exact same problem with my wife's e46 318i.
It is especially bad each time i fill up! Also first click!
I lift the car up but the hose is stil intact so I'm guessing lifting the seat is the next step!
