Was and wasn't looking forward to today. Was looking forward to getting the springs on and lowering the M, was also looking forward to playing with the Fender rolling machine/tool.
What I wasn't looking forward to was milage. Sounds strange. But seeing her go over 110 000k's was oddly a little heartbreaking. To truly enjoy her, you need to drive her, I guess I'm preserving her will enough that at 200 000k's she will still be uber neat. (Although that may take many MANY years, as she is a garage queen most days)

Took a few pics of the M3 today post lowering. Pics looked stunning yet I'm not entirely happy with tyre sizes, looks slightly odd to me with stretched rears and full fronts. Reluctant to post pics as she is not yet exactly how I want her, but will post a few for help on tyres ?
255 rear flush look to rim or 215 front and keep 235 rears pulled looked. I'm undecided seeing her like this now.

Giving her a decent little wash post Eibach Springs.

Stalking the streets for a decent place to stop for a smoke and get a few pics in.

I heart that Carrera!
Btw, why Sasol fuel? BP or Shell for those cars! :)

I've never been the type to be fuel fussy.. If I believed the advertising, they all say they the best. So I fill up at places that usually have a good convenience store .lol.

Bud I actually think the original 17"s would be my first choice, the 18's look great but for some reason I think the 17's may look a bit better. In terms of the tyres for the 18's, 255 flush at the rear would get my vote.

The 18's do look good though now that I've had a second look:rollsmile:

Hi 444
Thanks for the compliment.
Almost finished. The photos might sell her slightly better than in the flesh. But mostly cosmetic due road rash after 20 years.
So my list left is.
Front nose spray, polish and seal the. VPS clear protect.
Steering rack mod or refurb
Passenger seat motor (motors working but gears are toast)
Spring rubber to slightly raise driver side rear.
Install OEM am Business CD player (OEM tape deck not working out for me lol)
Tyre sizes/choices to finish off

That should be it

Great stuff.
Let me share some experiences:
With regards to the steering rack, ZF Johannesburg, close to the airport, refurbish the steering racks, to OEM standard!!! It was about R4k (2 years ago) for a refurbished rack off the shelf including fitting. Note the original steering rack is a ZF rack...

The drivers rear side is lower than the passenger rear side. All of them are like that, from the factory. Do take lots of pics of your fix

What a small small world this is. I used to live down the road from Bruce in Kensington,I had NO idea what he was capable of otherwise I would've sent my 333i to him when I still had it.
That being said, what an epic thread this is. So nice to see two marquee M cars being so well restored and refreshed, looking as good as the day the rolled off the factory floor. I'd love to see them in the flesh, and see Bruce again. I'm not sure he'd remember me,but he did stop by my house once or twice to say hi a few years ago.
Kudos Elton, very very nice!:thumbs::bravo:
