1M Time Attack Car

Tested the car with the new OZ light rims and it is the single most MASSIVE increase in performance that i have ever felt on any one of my cars ever! Yes that much of a difference.

Car accelerates from 100-200 more than 3 seconds faster than stock.
My wagon turns in so much faster and nimbler than stock. Car feels like it is 15% faster and i know my car and the data as well and the car just pulls so much harder now that i have taken off so much weight both with the rims, brakes and tyres but the actual sprung weight as well that we removed like seats and interior stuff keeping in mind my Recaro Pole positions are only going to be here month end which will be the most weight in the 2 stock seats being removed.

Car brakes from 200-0 and 100-0 literally several seconds quicker as the brakes, wheels and tyres are all lighter the rotational mass is a massive 180kg's less than stock and the amount of energy that is saved on dealing with the huge unsprung weight difference is now utilised in propelling the car forward faster and reducing the speed variant massively quicker like i said literally several seconds quicker.

Seriously guy's the BEST mod i have ever done ever and to think that when my mate and his hugely impressive GT3 RS installed the OZ light weight rim i said that he must have his head read as they were the worst looking rims i had ever seen(same as mine i bought now) and his answer was you do not understand the laws of physics and unsprung weight and rotational mass forces.

Clearly not many of us do, a quick Google search and the terminology may be easier to throw around BUT do you really know what all that jargon means if you have not first hand experienced it. Answer to this is like what my understanding was a big fat NO!:flyfun:

I thought i did and that it was just talk and never quiet understood the concept but i now realise how wrong i was after testing my wagon today. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! Called my buddy and he just laughed and said that he had told me so but was happy i had gone through the entire process of tracking a car properly and that i now knew the difference for myself and that i could feel all the pro's myself as to why the world of racing is always fighting weight and not power output and why the big boys of the race industry employ these race secrets on their production cars.

Cant wait to test my wagon at Kyalami tomorrow after the race setup has been done as i could not ride the car to hard today with new rims and new semis on.

Yes agree but feeling it first hand on a M car with relatively lightweight stock rims standard issue to OZ lightweight rims is mind boogling and i am completely blown out of the water by this.

And to think i thought my E92 M3's 18" rims were the shizzle with semis on my 1M i realise how wrong i was and i will admit it very wrong.

fortunately for me bmw have some already very light rims in 15" my wheels weigh about 5.5kg each  super light weight 15" wheels are about 5kg so not much in it for me to change... i need to look at tires weights for savings...

Ok that's light but 15's?

lol everyone thinks im crazy but tires are cheap, they light and i like the old school look they have  i will only go bigger if i need bigger disks...

Well if i could i would run 17" as tyres are cheaper and rotational mass less but in my case the AP discs im running are 17"(well almost) in diameter and once again the law of physics states that the further you move away from the centre force being the hub of the wheel the rotational mass increases.

like i said if i had heat problems on my brakes i would have to go with bigger rims but i think for my application it should be fine... fitting the smallest rims that fit over your brakes makes the most sense

BMW/ Afrox production car driver Etienne van Der Linde will be doing HOT laps in his race car for the would be track day enthusiast which is a must @R50. Also the 1M will be thrashed by Etienne as to give me a reference lap time. AWESOME!!!

Fetched my Wagon at ADF Motorsport today after Freddie and his crew sorted the race prep and suspension setup for Kyalami this Saturday and these guys are really so professional and their quality of workmanship and how they do the developement on various parts etc is brilliant.

My wagon is brutal in the handling department and the entire package just feels awesome now that it has been properly setup by a company and bunch of guys that are truly brilliant in what they do. For obvious reasons having prepared the production cars for BMW under the team AFROX/ BMW name they have HUGE knowledge and massive amounts of data on these cars and specially the N54 and N55 motors as well as the M3 V8 which they run in the Gt series and other privateer cars like the last season cars and 3 seasons ago cars as well bought from BMW as ex race cars which Freddie prepares for National and Regional racing private customers.

The knowledge Freddie has paid the price for over years of experience in Motorsport building winning cars shows when you walk into their workshop and the little bits of info and a steer in the right direction as to track car setup is so helpful for a new comer like me. We have even bigger plans for the little M now and thanks to Freddie BorgWarner is coming to the Christmas party early.

Also mixing some very nice race gas with Sunoco race, Sasol 98 race, Shell 105 race and NF race fuel concentrate with a dash of specially formulated toluene. Big bang theory just got BEEGER! ECU adaption on this fuel only takes place once all fuel is removed and run dry then fill with mix tension that right foot all the way down to the nice cuddly BMW Carpets for at least 5-6 launches and a couple of 1KM sprints and you ready to race!

I got a supplier up here in P town who gets me limited supply every month or so but R900 a pop and Sunoco is R1200 a pop so I don't use it very often as race 98 gas is R400.
