How is this for a theory?

Devon an Morne both had the same problem. You were both parked very close to the big speakers on the stage on Sunday. I noticed Devon's alarm kept going off due to the vibration caused by the speakers. Only when I left and drove past it did a realise the magnitude of the vibrations. What if the constant vibrations over a couple of hours caused the oil loss? :dunno:

And what about the rep from BMW SA having to give permission for them to replace the door trim that's peeling? What's up with that? Don't they trust the dealerships? It's plain inconvenient for me to have an appointment at the dealership with the rep from BMW SA.
Almost ten years ago, when I got my 325i, the dealership replaced both my front seats due to a discolouration fault without this :bs:, they ordered the seats and phoned me to make a booking when they received them. That's it.

Look I don't mind taking the car to BMW everytime it needs oil, I just don't trust that little oil level sensor. :nono: And how do you know that it has not been over filled? Because over filling can also cause damage.

This has turned into a competition of whose car uses the most oil :biglol:

I want my car to not use oil all, hence my original post.

Turbocharged petrol engines irrespective of type in the BMW range consume oil more rapidly than naturally aspirated engines and at more frequent intervals.

The X1 engine 2.0 liter naturally aspirated s-drive engine requires a top up at it's first 7 odd thousand k's.

Cooper S also consumes like an alcoholic (hence being turbocharged).

It's normal IMO that it needed to be topped up.

The n43 (na) engines 1600cc-1998cc needed topping up at about 8000 k's

I will totally agree, every 6000km or there about I need to put in about 1 liter of Castrol oil. I have never had a car that drinks oil like this before. I now check it once a week as i find that the oil will be fine for 2 months and then all of a sudden it needs a whole liter. Oh well... now I keep 2 liters of spare oil at home always.

I think there's an oil conspiracy going on...:thumbdo: check the oil on the 330d and was also a bit short, nothing alarming but im gonna monitor just in case, and the 323 also shows oil shortage, could the cold weather affect the viscosity of the oil? :fencelook:

This is what I use for my MINI. Its the same as the BMW oil, just in Castrol packaging and about R50 cheaper per liter. It should be the same oil used in the n54/n55 motors.

From what I have understood about the oil is that it actually breaks up very easily and burns away due to the fact that its as thin as water...

i changed my oils from 5w30 to 0w40 , and it made the worlds of difference.

cooler oil temps, less oil in in catch can, more consistant performance.

downfall, car takes longer to warm up, but its worth it.

I purchased the oil from Motortechnik. MOBILE 1
