The car also got an oil service and I also replaced the fuel filter, the old one was from 2005, lol.
The next item I attended to was why the left boot light wasn't working, inspected the harnesses and found this.
Broken and frayed wires were soldered and heat-shrinked. Boot light working again.
Both 652 batteries needed replacement, they were from 2005.
At that point I found the cd shuttle cover, lol.
Whoever replaced the batteries in 2005 forgot to plug in the battery drain pipes.
Really expensive piece of plastic from agents.
Fitted and replaced the missing horn.
Elton imported a used centre trim to replace the original one that had been plasti-dipped poorly.
Fitted the new steering wheel too.
There was a very small difference in the centre trim so the trim for the ASC button didn't fit correctly, had to modify it to work because BMW SA couldn't supply me with the correct ASC button trim.
Both front seats were suffering with the common E31 seat fault where only one side rises, fixed both. These are the heaviest seats ever, E46M3 seats are light in comparison.
The tool set was missing the screw driver, 12/13 and 8/10 spanners, replaced those.
Getting a wash before delivery.
Last pic of the car, possibly my favourite.
In conclusion, this being the first 8 series I have ever worked on was an eye opening experience. It showed me how rare and costly some parts are but also how much this car shares parts from E32, E34 and E36 parts bins. There is still more work to be done on this car and I made a list for Elton to work through such as the automatic transmission leak, exhaust and suspension bushes, I could have done the suspension but held back as I would prefer it done by those who have done it before.
I enjoyed having this car in my garage for several months, best eye candy to ever park here. On the street it turns heads everywhere, people give you thumbs up at intersections and such, other motorists let you in ect. People in parking lots ask you what it is, that's how rare these cars are.
Thanks once again to Elton for allowing me to work on another car from my dream car garage, you are a Legend!
