Oil drained overnight.

New filter in.

While refitting the sump plug I noticed the left control arm was bent.

Also the old bonnet lining had to go, as I took it off, rat shit and hair rained down!

Pulling plugs. They also look rather new.

Coils have seen better days.

Torqued to 28nm.

2 coil bolts didn't belong.

2 correct ones found.

Windshield cowel will need replacement.

Is that a cable tie?

Also the wrong size hose clamp.

2 correct ones found.

Air filter cover clip is broken.

Broken here too.

Should look like this.

Old no-name brand filter looks terribly deformed.

OEM FTW!

I didn't know Gardena made automotive piping?

Upper oil separator pipe has also been covered in insulation tape.

Brakes are actually in good shape still.

Tie-rod ends not so much...

Who knows how old these are?

Every single wheel bolt was 5 knuckles-white tight!

Fixed with copper grease.

New wheels one, thats all for now.

Looking good! I also prefer letting oil drain overnight. I normally jackup the passenger side slightly the next morning to get all the old oil out. Its sill amazing how well the E36 has held up over the years i rate its better put together than the E46.

Nice work Gizmo. Enjoy following Arbee's threads as they chronicle the cars life so nicely and now your involvement just took it to another level. :clapper:

After I fitted them yesterday and stood back I couldn't help but feel nostalgic, it took me almost 4 years of searching high and low to find a set. I know for a fact I will never find another set again, make me sad just thinking about it.:blueCry:

It was the only set of wheels TSW ever made that appealed to me and suited my car to a tee. Now all of TSW's offerings are hideous!

Three of my all-time favourite pics with them.

The level of detail that Gizmo has gone through on my car is unspeakable! Upon collecting the car, each and every replace part was shown to me, parts that were purchased but did not require replacing just yet was returned and focus shifted toward the parts that are needed!

The drive home was definitely a better one, the car looks smart with the Hock's, being a classic wheel, it fits the them perfectly. They will go in for a full refurbish and paint soon, they are in great condition but im not liking the matt white finish. Would like a glossy AW finish.

The car will go back to Gizmo in the next 2 weeks to have the important items sorted!

Thank you Gizmo for the excellent service! The car drives 10 fold better already. Cannot wait till we are satisfied that the car is mechanically 100%.

Thank you Yaseen, appreciate it. That hard shift 1st to 2nd worries me though and can't help but think it has something to do with the oil/atf leak.

Sump gasket and rear main seal replacement is definitely on the cards in 2 weeks time.

Lets get some pricing together and get it done!

Got my Auto box service kit from Gdrive they were the cheapest. It has the sump gasket, filter, sump nuts and the brand is Meyle. Ross also did the torque converter seals while the box was out since they were only like R150 from Bmw it’s also worth looking into. The most expensive item is the oil. :smashScreen:
