i just got my car back from a service,
feels really nice and healthy,
still a couple things i need to sort out though,

i did:

-oil service with liqui moly
-oil filter
-coolant flush
-gearbox oil
-diff oil
-spark plugs
-all belts
-both banks valve covers
-wiper blades
-front lower control arm bushes
-pitman arm
-brake fluid change

-still need to do the prop guibo/flex disk
-boot shocks
-front control arms

-suspension wobble 80kmph

going to check if the wheels have spigot rings, otherwise i have some to go on

Got new boot shocks installed, also my prop shaft flex disk

Also look at my backbox:skit:
No wonder the car is so loud, going to get that changed in the next week

So I put spigot rings on the wheels and it sorted out the 80-100kmph wobble!! Yay! So glad it was a simple inexpensive fix!:smilebounce:

I also went to powerflow tokai yesterday just to replace my backbox, they said they have to do 2 pipe sections as well just to make their box fit, my exhaust system is stock and in fine condition besides the rusted hole'y backbox, and they wanted to charge me R2500, I said no so I'm going to get it done elsewhere

Here are some pics of the heart of the beast and some interior shots, excuse the bad light

Hi guys,

So today I got my rusted old backbox changed and a section of the rear exhaust piping, got it done by powerflow,

Car is so quite now, in a good way, and you can really hear the engine nicely.

So, the old rusted, and full of holes silencer was on of those oval shaped, medium size ones, the new one is one of those round large ones, my question is:

The car feels much more "peppy" now, has better response, and better low down and midrange torque, with the top end pretty much the same as it was, I first thought it was just me, but then when my girlfriend and I went out, she said she also felt it. Without me saying anything about it.
I know sometimes when you put on a louder exhaust your mind has the placebo effect because of the sound that makes you THINK you are going faster, but this exhaust now is stock quite (very quite) but I can definitely notice the extra pep.

Is this possible even? Could the old worn muffler cause a loss in response and power?

Please let me know your thoughts

Thanks

Hallo Nirvash

From my personal experience, i once installed a new exhaust( free-flow) but the car did not feel better than expected, the rear silencer box tend to leak before the year warranty ended. I opted to go for a different silencer box ( one in- two out ) it changed quite a lot.

hi , I wanted to chat to you at the run yesterday but you left before I had a time to talk you , the car belonged to my friend , I had it sprayed by the same guy who sprays my cars , here is some pictures of it before it was sold , I can understand removing the e36 M rims but the removing the roof spoiler was a nono for me , we fitted this same roof spoiler on his 540 individual , gives the car that more complete look.

I really loved this car on the open road especially the couple of times we went down the garden route , topped out at just on the 240 kph mark with four of us and our luggage .

@cato3

Hi,
Would have been nice to have met you on Sunday, pity.
What car were you driving?

Yes, I remember chatting to you in another thread regarding e34s and when I had my 525i, and remember those pics,
That's an impressive top end for the car! Don't know if I will be brace enough to take it there haha

I didn't take the roof spoiler off, the previous owner did, maybe I will see if I can get it from him, not 100% sure of I would use it, will have to see it in person.
I also didn't change the wheels, he did, my options I would like would be:

Throwing starts - style 21
Ac snitzer type 1's
Hartge reps
Style 65 e39 wheels

Nice to hear some history of the car, thanks :)

hi , I was driving the white e46 M3 , your car also has e34 M5 springs fitted with the power brake discs , made a big difference on that cars handling , the seats we bought from NMU and the clear front indicators and taillights I bought on ebay [he removed these before he sold the car]. Still miss the sound of that car , the 540 manual individual my friend owns now just not seem to get that same crazy tone.
