Hey guys-

2 of my friends, 2008 350zHR and a 2008 135i coupe had some fun a few nights ago up and down an empty road and in a parking lot...

which has left the 135i with a blown turbo. (has 90 000kms on the clock.)

The car is now at Jacque in PTA dely rd waiting to hear if he just wants to put in another stock turbo?

Question is - would this be time to do a mild upgrade? single turbo? and who would you guys suggest can help do something like that?

i only know of RGM and SAV (as i haven't owned a BMW myself)

thanks for the help guys!

Doing a single turbo conversion on a N54 engine will be stressing your friends budget quite a lot!

Blueprinted turbo replacements (both turbos new with billet compressor wheels) are in the region of R35k just for the turbos BUT you can expect power to shoot up into the possible region of 350kw+

oh crap, Lets see what the quote is to just put another new stock turbo back in.

he's going to want to mod it (maybe just de-cat and remap ecu)
but i was wondering if there's not something he can do with the turbo's now since one's gone "pop"

It's 2 turbos in any case..... replacing just one turbo is deadly

thats what Sav just told me - if the one's gone, the other's possibly going too...

if he has the cash he might as well just go with a turbo upgrade and get it over and done with.

Form there the power is going to sore!

I'd get this thing. Its about R67 000 though.

Arent RB turbos about 4000$ so about R40 000? And arent RB turbos just hybrids of your original turbos so since his turbo popped surely he would have to buy new original turbos and then upgrade to the RBs? Or am I wrong and you get completely new turbos when buying RB turbos?

Only one problem, the Vishnu single turbo setup will not fit on a RHD car if I recall correctly.

R13 000 (incl install etc) to replace the busted turbo wth a new one.
Jacques said the other original one could still go on and on even, not specifically needed to replace both in his experience...

But R35k plus for any other turbo's (excluding install) is just too much.

I suggested he just put in a new one, De cat, induction and Software...
Anything else you guys sugges? maybe build up a full exhaust?

replaced the turbo that failed... car's spluttering and giving kak, missfires and generally doesnt like life, then switches off and on again, then it's "fine" for a while... he's NOT impressed with the N54... turns out they eat turbo's like zuma eats tax money. another aquaintance said he's gone thru 3 sets on his 335i. in 60 000kms??? bugger that.
