I extended mine in Feb for around R 14 000

Last week it was in for service and repairs. Service was R1700 and rest was to address Limp mode issue. Bill was over R 20 000 ( thankfully on motorplan). Major items were

Remove + install/replacing exhaust camshaft
Labor R4208
Camshaft, Exhaust R3378
Adjustment unit, outlet camshaft R4240
VANOS Solenoid Valve R1685
Vacuum Hose R216

Total Labour R 9638
Total Parks R 10347
Misc R 394

:dropjaw: What year and mileage do you have? That is a hefty "service"!!

Mine is the E93 2009 335i DCT M-Sport with 73 000kms. I decided to extend MP with "time" and it cost R14 000.

Its a hefty service but its related to a common problem with the N54 engine.

Which common problem is this? I also have an N54 and my MP is expiring in June. My mileage is on 68000km and also been told it will be R14k to extend.

Extended mine last year end of October for R14k.
Mid November got a waterpump failure. So Bmw replaced waterpump and thermostat, plus service which would've been due in a months time. Bill came to R20k.
Was I glad that I paid for peace of mind

Haibo, waterpump and thermostat should cost around 7-9k, how on earth do they get to 20k after including service plus labour??? Or are the N54 units different to the rest of the range?

MP is good for peace of mind.

N54 parts are not so expensive anymore if you maintain the vehicle out of MP. Taking out a good warranty on parts such as turbos, engine, driveshaft, transmission etc are also a good alternative.
