135i DCT Build Project Diary

Dear Diary, and to all fanatics,

This is my first and latest project.

Coming from a e92 325i M-Sport, and looking for something sportier, I made up my mind and decided to get a 135i.I had a Peugeot 206 Gti before getting the 325i, and after a year of driving pleasure simply got bored with the 325i - Beautiful machine, but just too little character!btw I drove both those cars stock throughout.

Right, now that we got the history lesson out of the way, time to get this project on the roll ...:=):

Let's start off with my new acquisition:
She's a Alpine White 2010 BMW 135i DCT M-Sport with 50k on the clock.I call her LESA(cos the first 3 letters are basically a 1-3-5, get it?1[L] 3[E] 5 [A])

Anyways, she already had BMW Performance Pack Kit, Stage 1 + Stage 2 installed.Stage 1 being software upgrade only, and stage 2 being extra radiator, additional water cooling and upgraded performance exhaust (decat).
Pics to follow:

The idea is to add/do at least one mod every month.I will be using Rowan's 1M build project as inspiration

see: http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=37937

as I really like his style, and also I dont want to go too over the top.I will be starting with cosmetics mods only and maybe when the motorplan expires, I will start looking at performance mods.

My first mod was done yesterday.Although very small it was absolutely essential!!

On the 135i front airdams on the sides (where some cars usually have foglights situated) it has these very feminine-looking plastic 'splitters'.See the 3rd and 2nd pictures above.

Yesterday i took a junior hacksaw blade and saw them off, and afterwards filed away the excess plastic with a fine standard wooden file.Still needs to be finished with some superfine sandpaper but this will be done soon enough to hide any traces of butchering!:=):

I know most people will be thinking "WTF!!taking a hacksaw and sawing at your bumpers is crazy!!" but after searching the net ASH gave me the tips on how to get them off and this seems to be the only way!

Thanks ASH:thumbs:

The front of the car looks much more aggresive now and has a M3 look to it!

Will take some pics tomorrow as it is dark outside now and will post them soon.

Lol hopefully I can hold out till m.plan expires before I start tinkering under the bonnet...

A quick question??regarding motorplan and cosmetic mods, how much can I change before they will possibly cancel my motorplan?i want to change the rear diffuser, bolt on carbon exhaust tips, wheels of a different size, front splitter, colour the grills and mirror covers.Which of these mods can be done without any trouble from BMW dealerships??my thinking is they will only cancel m.plan if I change mechanical parts or start modding the engine/exhaust etc.
Is this true??

Advice would be much appreciated:=):

Like all modifications it depends on your dealer, the relationship between you two and the potential for things to go wrong as a result of any mod.

Personally I fitted the carbon diffuser, carbon boot spoiler, gloss black grills and Blackline tailights and nobody at the dealer batted an eyelid. My servicing manager even complimented how much nicer the diffuser made the rear look. :=):

Well I do have a VERY good relationship with the ppl at the dealership, salesman, service dept etc. my family has been doing business with them for years now so I think I should be ok unless I start modding the engine then.

Thanks Ancheron:thumbs:

Some pics of Lesa with the removal of the front airdams

The pics wont upload upload from iphone today for some reason.

Thanks Twinz, much appreciated:thumbs: I agree, the newer beemers do look nice in white!

I select the bigger sizes, on photobucket, but I would like the pics to come up bigger on the thread directly instead of having to click on them individually.but it's not such a big deal I suppose:argh:
