125i coupe, good car / bad car?

As for the car, it should be just fine, my Z4 has the same N52 3.0i as the 125i I believe, and it is pure creamy goodness.

It must be said though, that the 135i has proven to be a great car for the speedsters due to stock ability and then tuning ability.. but if you are not planning to set any records, I'm certain a 125i will be just fine.

Now, go out and go drive a couple.

Nothing really sounds as raw as the 3.0... End of the day I think you will just wonder why you did not get a 135i! Cult classic car! :coolShake:

thanks guys.

Yes, 135i > 125i.

The 125i I am looking at in particular is in extremely good condition with low mileage, so to get a similar 135i I would need to spend a lot more, which doesnt make sense since all I am getting is faster straight line speed... also, a big N/A engine is very nice in every day driving since there is no lag, so its always ready and should also be easier and perhaps more eager to kick the back out than a 135i, although a 135i could probably drift till the tyres burst

Honestly, the feel completely different in nature.
I suggest you drive both before making your mind up or deriving any conclusions based on assumptions.
Whether you at the reef or at the coast will also make a huge difference

Yeah, no one is mentioning how quickly the 135i goes through tyres as well?

Anyways it's always best to buy what you comfortable buying, with me straight performance is not so important as corning ability/enjoyment, so the 125i met my needs.

Good luck!

so I got the car and I am really loving it. Not very fast but already kicked the back out haha

one question - it has cruise control buttons on the right hand side of the steering wheel, but no stalk other than the 2 for lights and wipers. I was told it has cruise control but having spent most of the 25km home trying to figure it out... I am starting to think CC is not actually enabled, or am I doing something wrong?

I will consult the manual when I get a chance, but do BMW perhaps do that - include buttons which do NOTHING? My Audi had 2 buttons on the steering intended for a different model radio which also did nothing, which was annoying...

Congrats

Yes they do indeed include buttons which do nothing if you don't have that option! Afaik you should have another smaller stalk on the left under the indicator stalk if you have cruise control.

yeah seems the right hand buttons are for the radio and air con, which explains why the circulate kept going on lol

ok... I will read about a retrofit I guess... I do like cruise control a lot...

by the way, so far I am averaging 9.3l/100 with mostly highway. In town it is thirsty but at this stage, its comparable to my 2.0TFSi A4.

Miss cruise control though :(

That said, I havent been cruising haha. This thing just loves kicking the back out, LOVE IT!!

having owned 125i coupe, it is down on power compared to other cars I have owned and is a bit heavy of gas.

That said - these cars handle and brake well, you will have plenty fun. They sound epic at full tilt.

Only ever had the propshaft coupling and coils replaced on plan, enjoy

I'm looking at buying a 2013 125i M Sport... it all looks good, but a little concerned about fuel consumption. Mind you, I don't really drive a helluva lot. My current vehicle only has 43000km since 2011 lol.

Just to make sure, are you looking at the E82/83 or F20/21? Coz they're completely different animals.
