Hey guys been a while since I have posted....not much on the update front, although already on my second front spoiler, dont know how but the first just decided to crack dead in the centre...maybe a stone while driving but no idea how. Just saw it when I was washing the car the one morning. 🤦‍♂️

Got some cosmetic mods planned but patiently waiting for them to arrive...hope this month still...apart from that, just trying to enjoy the car and rack up some kms....really loving the ride, and after the break in service, the car seems more "alive"....puts a smile on my face every time i drive it even if it is just a shop run.

Did a little photoshoot recently....here are some of the pics....

Wowzers! Is x drive incredibly scary fast?? Or should the rwd variant be just fine..
Fast....yes!!!
Scary...The fear factor really depends on your threshold—what’s unsettling for one person might be thrilling for another...

Never drive the RWD variant so cannot comment, but this is proper quick in my opinion

The RWD will be scary to the untrained and inexperienced driver, the AWD is insanely quick due to the power being put down MUCH more efficiently.
A simple comparison I did some time back was my M135i was RWD and I was very confident behind the wheel when I owned that car. My cousin had a 135i and M135i and also was very fun and scary at sometimes.
He then bought the G-series M440i and that car was an absolute rocket so much so that you will be come very accustomed to it quicker but also can be over-confident.

I chatted to one of my buddies who has owned both the M3 in RWD and AWD now and he said the AWD is much more of a stable car but it picks up speed crazy because of the stability whereas the RWD was a car that could take you out if you are not humble when driving it.

As said above, it all depends on your threshold…when I first got mine I felt it was plenty quick enough…2 months later I had become so used to the power that it felt it could do with some more…so I did a simple stage one tune with no hardware modifications…car is really fast but I’m approaching the point of where I’m used to it again and needing more…it’s a never ending cycle…for perspective my car currently runs a 100-200kph sprint in 6.3 seconds and a 0-100kph in 3.1 seconds…that’s on par with many high end super cars…

Hey guys,

Small update, really loving the car and trying my very best to get enough time to drive it but failing hopelessly on that front lol. With work and other commitments and all the holidays it has been tough. Did a breakfast run in the beginning of May and that was alot of fun but not much else. That being said I was fortunate enough to experience the BMW M Intensive driving course a week back in Kyalami and it was fantastic! I have now completed 2 of these courses(M Advanced and M Intensive) and it really builds confidence and its amazing what these cars can do and the limits you can push them to.

Thankfully, we do not have any plans until the long weekend in June so trying my best to keep it that way so I can get to enjoy my weekend toy a bit. I also managed to get some cosmetic mods done and think I am not completed/done with the front end. I was never a fan of the honeycomb vents in the front bumper. I felt like BMW chose the cheap and easy route and could have made it look much better, like the CSL. So I did just that! Ordered the CSL style air vent covers. So to me, if I was gonna do the air vent covers and already had the lip in carbon, why not do the grill at the same time? I really did not want to make the car look like a CSL when it is not, but saying that I really like the look of the CSL grill compared to all the other options available. So what do I do....well I did this 👇👇👇👇

Went with the CSL grill minus the red outline and think it fits well with the front end and the look I was trying to achieve....
So now I am done with the front end and really liking the end result.

The other thing that bugged me a bit was how tucked in the wheels looked and while doing some online window shopping saw that Evolve Automotive had a sale on their spacer kits for the G8x series and and ordered a set, 12mm in front and 15mm in the rears.
Was amazed how quick they arrived, ordered on a Monday and delivered on the Thursday of the same week.
Subtle difference but makes a huge difference...the pics dont do it justice but hopefully gives an idea...

I have felt no difference in ride quality, although to be honest I dont think the 8 min drive from the wheel shop home was a good test, but where I could get a bit heavy footed on the pedal, I did and it felt the same.

So now that the front end is sorted, have a couple things planned for the rear in the next month or 2. For now I just want to enjoy the car and put mileage on it. :)

Looking good! Just need to close that wheel gap & it will look perfect!

The grill replacement solution is a must it seems. Through who did you order and the cost? Have you thought of a rear wing..I think this is also a necessity now.

Ordered the grill from a contact in China, will have to work out the cost as I ordered some other bits as well but it was definitely cheaper versus sourcing locally.

Not a fan of the rear wing. Like the subtle look. That being said I do have something planned that’s different from what I currently have and still keeps the subtle look I’m going for….i think

So I was quite fortunate that the courier service played nice and got the final bits for the rear earlier then expected. Naturally I could not wait to get them fitted and the minute the courier dropped them off, the booking was made to have them installed.

The rear spoiler I had, while a classic, just about every M car has the same and I wanted something different but also not too big and "loud", so I was not too sure how the option I went with would look, but while it may not be to everyone's taste, I think for me it was the perfect choice :). The pics really do not do it justice and it give a whole new look.

The Diffuser is subtle and did not want one with the brake light as I really do not want to be tapping into wiring etc, and I think its a nice clean look.

Anyways let the pics do the rest :)

Also did not want to change the side vent thing to a full carbon one as I wanted to keep the original style, so got these covers, and I think they look good, will see over time if they stay or get removed.

Well thats about it for now....finally caved in to just about everyone telling me the car needs to sit a little lower and have a set of AC Schnitzer springs on order and will hopefully have them installed next week once we back from our little getaway the long weekend.

Thanks for looking (y)

I love the spoiler (y)

Definitely needs to be lower - if you have not already fitted the ACS springs, look into the M Performance HAS kit. I have that on my F90. The labour to fit is roughly the same. Not sure about price delta now - it was going to be R16K fitted vs R20K fitted at the time, so the springs made no sense when I looked into them. I found in the past with springs they are either too aggressive or not aggressive enough for what I am after. Sounds from your description of having to be goaded into lowering the car you may be in the same camp as me

Thanks Bro... 🙏

I did not consider the HAS kit, but will look into it now, have not fitted the springs as yet as waiting for them to arrive at the dealer, so guess there is still time to change if I decide to go the HAS route.

Unfortunately the M performance HAS kit is around 40k now fitted….a huge difference in price compared to just springs, but it is the right way to go no doubt.
