MY2000 E39 540i 6 Speed Manual - Glacier Green

Yoh gents. no need to be that nasty. Yes its not to everyone's taste but its not that green E90 bad.
To the op I think the car looked best with the original rims but its your car so do what makes you happy.

Well, thats not gone well.

I wasn't expecting these wheels to look good, but Im surprised at how poorly it turned out. Maybe the polished lips + dark centers + no BMW roundel have made things worse. The fitment looks great tho! Needs more low in the front now ;)

Wow😅

I will admit that I was on the fence when they were being fitted.
I personally don't think they look quite as bad as some of the comments, but each to their own. After fitting them, I do think I would prefer style 65's or even 32's.
You live and you learn, I wanted to try something different.

Problem with the 32's in big meaty tire sizes in 17", non existent locally.

Perhaps throw on a set of BMW centre caps and see how it looks.. It may just make a world of a difference. Now can we please have some M5 content

If you're keen on the bbs style... maybe consider the style 42 oem wheels. They do look good when paired with darker colors.

Love the style 42's, use to have a set on my e46, just not the biggest fan of 17s on the e39. Mainly due to tire choice.

Out of interest,

Is everyone's issue with the wheels the colour choice, or the wheels themselves?

Reason I'm asking is because they are style 5 reps/BBS RC090, which is an OEM wheel, and even though they are a rep, unless under close up scrutiny, the look just like a style 5.
Just curious as to the hate lol 😅

Ultimately, I either like them or don't, it doesn't matter what anyone else's opinion is, and I think I definitely will wear them for a while at the very least.
It was between these or my spare set of Style 65's I have, but I didn't want to go down the "M5 Lookalike route".
Probably the last option on my list is a square set of style 32's 17".

Different doesn't automatically mean better, but I personally like it because it is different, has a good functional fitment, and being close to an OEM wheel, it doesn't look totally aftermarket. It's actually growing on me.
I think a little bit of lowering, and BMW roundels could make it work for me, personally.

So, is it colour or wheel choice?
Let the flaming begin!🤟🤣

Centre cap, colour and the front has too much of a dish (or rear not enough?). You can make this wheel work with some changes I think. You can fix 2 of these fairly easily.

The centre cap is so poor that it’s hard to look past sticking out the way it does

Colour definitely - I would go stock silver or a darker gunmetal.
Square setup (narrow and wides are needed with dish wheels) -not much you can do here.
Centre cap

Oem style 5s in 17s below sit quite nice. I do understand the 17inch tyres are hard to get in the spec needed as you mentioned though.
