E90 320i Engine trouble - HELP!!!

I am beginning to believe I am the unluckiest person in the world!

Before I begin - my mechanical warranty (through ABSA finance) is on hold till they run a double debit this month as it didn't go through last month, so waiting on that.

Anyway, in the week a warning light came on which according to the manual means I no longer have full engine power and I must get the car to a stealer asap. Not having the funds at the time I had no choice but to ignore it, till Friday when it started becoming harder and harder to not stall the car on take off. Then the last 2 km's driving home from the shop, bam, no power, couldn't build the revs past 3500 and that's in first gear, so I crawled home.

Family member needed to get to the shop and decided to try crawl there with the car, and said it was driving normal on the way back. He however pointed out a whirring sound that's been there since we got the car is getting louder and more annoying now - it's only there if the aircon is turned off and BMW told me it's nothing to be concerned about when I first noticed it.

Called a friend in who has the program to read codes from the car, however isn't updated for my model so he gave me the best information he could hunt off the net - so it may not be correct, this being the bad news I got this morning:

Hi Jason

managed to find some documentation on how to read the codes, if i am reading the codes right it means the following:
P1062 - (power train) total system, multiple cylinder misfire
P1050 - (power train) total system, cylinder 1 misfire
P111b - (power train) air/fuel induction, idle control valve malfunction
P111d - (power train) ignition coil cylinder 1

in conclusion, i think it has something to do with the VANOS (please note: I THINK)

so it does not sound to good and i suggest you get the car to a stealer asap
___

So - I know nothing about engine talk - if anyone has any idea what's going on? What kind of trouble am I in and what are the damages I'm looking at? How much would a stealer charge to read the codes? I can't afford to sit without a car now :bawling:

The car is sitting at just under 118000km

As far as I know, your car has the valvetronic system, not vanos. Your error codes point towards an error with the valvetronic system. Have a google on that. Some people have been lucky to have nothing more than an oiled up connector on top of the engine that needed a good clean.

Brake fluid wont cause your car not to start up. Secondly there are no professionals worth their salt that will offer a diagnosis based on what you have described and without even seeing the car.

Rather ask for suggestions for a bmw specialist in your area, to take your car to.
