E46 330i 2001 expansion tank cracked

Boss, That Yellow coolant light is 1 of 2 things

* the Level sensor that slips into the bottle
* The bottle itself

Recently bought an E46 320i to fix and flip and the light was on. Tested 4 sensors on it. Bled system each time.
and light stayed on.

Removed the bottle and it was a Moto Euro. Replaced with a Febi, used original Sensor, bled system and Light was gone.

The Moto Euro part you bought is The worst you could get. 
All moto Euro Parts are Bought from Chinese Companies and Just boxed in Moto Euro Boxes.

Febi Bilstein Bottles are atleast still Manufactured on germany so that would be the alternative

Personally, there are certain things you do not compromise on. Cooling in these cars are 1 of them

Taking into account none of us know your financial standing, If you can afford the few extra rands, By a Genuine BMW Expansion tank,

If money is abit tight, i would only recommend the Febi brand.
Anything else, you asking for trouble

I change my mind. My 2year old febi bottle just crapped out. And not even on a seem

Fyi, whoever is looking for e46 m54 expansion tanks, goldwagen is selling the Febi for r1070

I just got original bmw one at auric auto in claremont for R1100. Special they running.

So i got 2. Lokl

No is the time to buy and store.

Normal price is about R2000 usually

All expansion tanks whether OEM or aftermarket are designed to give up after a specific amount of wear and tear, no different than your brake pads or clutch plate. Part of the reason why the expansion tanks give up is due to the build of pressure in the system due to the excess heat. This is directly attributed to the OEM radiator.

Part number for 330d ends in 0 and not 1.

2 years aftermarket vs oem tanks that last up to 20 years. So yeah, they all eventually give up... But the quality is in how long...

Been running with Febi parts from Goldwagen, including the bottle, cap, and all new pipes relating to the water system, including the thermostat, and have had no issues for more than 2 years now.

I don't think it has anything to do with the quality of the part vs their bottom line, which is to sell more cars, sell more parts and make their shareholders smile during any pandemic. Plastic is plastic. Apply a significant amount of heat constantly and consistently, and it will inevitably break. A BMW from the 80's vs a BMW from 2000 to present day clearly shows the dramatic change in ethos, the incorporation of more tech (which sadly cannot help keep the driver's eyes on the road or aid the driver to use the indicator levers when turning), more 'lightweight' materials (which isn't light at all), and more plastic with some vinyl for added pizzaz! Arguably, many would say that wouldn't be a fair comparison, however, its a BMW, german design to last a lifetime. Sadly, not anymore! BMW still continue to make more plastic parts for their new lines of cars. Their new manufacturing plant in Munich will do away with injection moulding and embark on the future of 3D printing technology for all its future plastic parts for all future models.
