Why ask me, You know the answer already from all the videos and media I post. I don’t drill and tap rear differentials to change the oil even though there’s only 1 drain/fill hole.

As Llew said , and I completely agree , Buy a fluid transfer pump, it’s 100-200 bucks . Or electric oil extractor pump it’s also cheap.

I’ve got so many different transfer pumps , I even have dedicated ones for different fluids/jobs: gear oil for diffs and transfer cases, power steering fluid, coolant , engine oil.etc so we never mixing fluids or contaminate a single pump.

Pls Don’t drill someone else’s car to make ur life easy! That’s savage! if u worried about not getting all the fluid out, then do it multiple times to flush it.

You guys don't look over at the ground where you car was parked to look for oil leaks. We drive BMWs, which should be standard practice for us to do that :ROFLMAO:.

They drill it while it is full, and as the oil drains out, it comes out with the metal shavings.

But yeah, just get the pump. I was just referencing what I have seen, and they have had success with it. Those forums are filled with DIYers so It makes their own life easier to some extent.

This isn't how diff leaks work. Are you going under your car to look for caked congealed gear oil? No? Should that be standard practice too? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: it can be so slow of a leak and over the 60-80000km that it takes in between services that you won't notice it has all gone over time. You might dramatically blow a seal and see something, but not out of the fill/drain port. At least if this isn't 100% it isn't at the very bottom of the part.

All this again for R100 :ROFLMAO: The labour to tap, drill, supply a washer and a plug can't be less than R100. Whether you're a mech or a DIYer you'll have multiple uses for that little transfer pump as well.

I get that folks may want to DIY to avoid the dealer taking shortcuts or doing things wrong, but then why on earth do they go and do things like this. If it was a multi-thousand rand difference in time or money I would MAYBE understand at least. This is one of the strangest and laziest things I've heard about
