Z4M vs E92 M3

Hi Guys

Anyone paired these two together in a dash for the 400m? I have gone head to head with a few and would like to determine if what I noticed is in fact true or just driver related.

My intention is to gather opinions and views on those who have and who have seen two stock cars. :thumbs:

Stock for Stock on a 400m stretch it would be very close..especially if the Z4M driver knows how to drive his car.
I base this opinion on what I see the tuned 330d does against a E92 M3.

Also..have seen quite a couple of runs between a E46 M3 and some E92 M3s at our private test facility and the V8 has a hard time keeping the lead even to higher speeds though the E46 does have minor mods.

IMO a healthy S54 with a good pilot should be able to keep up if not be pretty even with a E92 to around 160ish or end of 3rd gear :fencelook:

+1 an M car is as only as good as the driver.

Did a high performance driving course with BMW some time back - in a Z4M.
There was an E92 M3 on the track, which according to the instructors was supposed to be a couple of seconds faster around Kyalami. But on the day when we were doing our hot laps this was not the case

If the V8 can launch well it should take the 400m. Even if just by 0.1 sec. As much as I want the Z4M to beat the E9x I think the E9x will be faster car for car. Driver error excluded.

I disagree with the above. Who's E46 M3 gave a E92 M3 a hard time on top?

If the V8 is a dct then I think the V8 will definitely take it. Dct basically removes driver error almost completely

Carl the M3 is a lot faster than the 330d that I can assure you. But we can have a 400M run for the fun.

Keep in mind were talking stock E9x M3`s....IIRC yours is not stock anymore...?

Remember the S65 takes well to software, better than the S54 which is already pushing most of its power from factory :fencelook:

Although we say the Z4 might have the e46 M3 engine but is lighter hence it compares with the e92 M3. Remember the e92 isn't a heavy weight, it still has a much better power to weight ratio than the Z4.

My opinion is that if both cars have a 6MT and both drivers with equal talent.. . . . Z4M comes up top.

This is just my opinion based on my personal experience, no need for throwing egos around now guys. :thumbs:

If the Z4M launches and shifts very well it can be close, but mid range the V8 should eat it.
Up at the reef this can be interesting as the V8 pushes a lot more torque. From what I have seen around a short track like Zwartkops the Z4M is quicker dont know about Kyalami.

And going back to original question.

Stock for Stock, Manual vs Manual, both cars driven well.

400M from the line...the V8 M3 is in for a very difficult win.
