Z4M ownership costs

Ja, I like the idea of a second cheap runaround to work and back, as long as it has a radio and 3 forward gears working it'll do the trick

But just finding a Z4m has been a mission. The only one for sale is owned by a guy who seems exceptionally shady. The car is missing a book and the spare key, he's taking forever to send me additional pictures and hasn't sent a VIN yet either (I called him and mailed him on Sunday night).

So that car sounds a heck of a lot like a lemon. (Will ask the relevant forum members for help checking up on the VIN as suggested above).

I'm not impatient and if I find a buyer for my car am happy taking a train to work and investing in an ETF for a while until I find the right car, which I think for something as specialized as this, is the right attitude.

when purchasing a vehicle of such calibre you really want the seller to play ball with you, be patient and im sure something special will come up.

Whatever you do, don't buy a 'cheap' M car. It will cost you a fortune.

Yeah, seems like the only ones on the market have been abused somewhat.

And given the price you pay for parts getting one that needs anything major will, as you say, set me back more than it's worth...

I actually saw a 350z the other day, but my (Bavarian, Munich raised, german!) partner took one look and gave me evil eyes... So I think to keep her onside I'll stick to the germans. Also, she said if I buy an Audi she'll think I'm cheap! (the Audi vs BMW thing is big as both are bavarian brands, but BMW is considered the more bavarian as it has retained is bavarian roots).

As an aside, if any of you ever go to Munich, the cars are incredible. Last time I went was a good few years back and literally you see 3 kinds of cars, BMW's, Porsche and VAG. In the city centre basically ever 5th car is a porsche, and around half of those porsches are 911's. Insane car culture.

I just have a pic of the licence disk: HVY627S is the "Veh. register no."

I have had 30si coupe since 2010 it was two years old when I bought it, I still use it as a daily driver it now has 178 000 km on the clock and the last service with brake pads and discs cost me R4900 give or take that car had the bulletproof 3l engine and a lot of the parts from the e46 are inter changeable, so if you get one for under 100 000km go for it
