Clinton Nathan and I are breathing a sigh of relief.
160Ks and it has not blown up yet.

:)
Hey have some faith uncle :cartel:

We did a fantastic job on this car and i'm 100% sure you did too... Plus If my car hasn't blown up after so long, Pete's not gonna have any issues with this car... We've both seen past the underwear on this Z4MR, its in excellent shape.. Just needs valve clearances, vanos and some fresh suspension bits then its gonna be A-OK for another 10 years.

Another quick update...

After fitting the new tyres and having the 'alignment' done... shortly afterwards I got the 'Trifecta' lights... being DSC, ABD and Handbrake lights.

I did the Carly app check, and it said that I had a Steering Angle Sensor error...

After much reading and checking, it seemed that the steering sensor needed to be re-calibrated, and I opted to go to TWT in Woodmead.

As it turns out - all it needed was a proper alignment done. The camber and the direction of the wheels were pretty much all stuffed across the board! I don't know what the original tyre fitment alignment dude was thinking/doing!

:dunnoanymore:

But after the TWT guy showed me the alignment, and set it to within specs, I haven't had the lights come on again - yet!

Just something to share with you guys - so you know this may be a relatively simple fix if you are in a similar position.

...And one more update... I decided to top up the recent oil change with a bottle of this...

Probably in my mind... but she definitely felt a little smoother/quieter after this stuff...

Nicely done dude!

Just a little confused here, did the Woodmead TWT guys stuff it up or fix it? I need alignment done as my steering is a tiny off center and would like to go to the guys that sorted your car out.

TWT Woodmead sorted it out! I spoke with a Jacques who helped me out.

It was another place in Randburg that seems to have messed up the alignment when they fitted the tyres...

Watch this space!

I ordered a S54 Valve Clearance set... it's been delivered to a colleague who was travelling to the US, so I should have it in my hands end of this week when he gets back...

Then I just need to find some time when I can have peace and quiet and give this a go! Really looking forward to it!

It must be awesome being in the US and getting something you ordered a day later....

Hey there!

Thanks man! I'll post up pics of the valve clearance work as soon as I manage to get round to it!

As for tyres... here's some pics - but not the greatest, sorry!!

So, I have started a bit of a to-do list for sometime/end of year...

This one may be looming a bit sooner... will see...

But out of interest... the OEM prices on a DMF and Clutch kit (sans labour) is:

1. Clutch kit - 21217837984 - R9,516.04

2. Dual mass flywheel - 21212229900 - R20,552.00

:skit::skit::skit:

EINA.

Is the DMF replaced with the clutch as a requirement?

Any chance of going SMF on an aftermarket setup?

EINA indeed...

I believe from other posts and what I have been told previously that it should be done simultaneously...

Good question - but to be honest, I would want to keep as close to original spec as possible... so would probably just go for DMF...

But looking for something like LUK... as an adequate OEM replacement...

Well, please report back - that seems intense though a R30k clutch job excl labour...

The LUK clutch and flywheel is fine and is less than half the price.

The Z4M has the ZF gearbox so LUK or Sachs aftermarket will do fine.

No need to go agents unless you have a deep seated desire to enrich them.
