BMW are well known to have the BEST inline 6 engines.

Stay away from the 4 cylinder engines if possible.

My wife had a 120i Msport but she hated it after a while.

She told me to rather transfer my 323i over onto her and i could go get the 335i i always wanted.

I have the same problem with 'my' 3201 exclusive 2007. The valvetronic packed up last year June, at 100 000 KM. Now the fault came back a couple of times this year but without losing power, always cleared the fault and tests the VVT. Last friday, the error came up and lost power. I still drove home. Saturday i checked the car, the power was fine and it drove fine this morning. 'My' car is serviced Ross Duncan. I am starting to hate this car.

Is the VVT considered a wear and tear. Im trying to claim from insurance (miway warranty by motorite). They telling me that its not covered as it wear and tear but they will be able to pay 50% of the VVT motor price. Labour i will have to pay it myself that means. Is this the standard practice?

I need help my engine warning light keeps coming on and I'm told it's the vvt sensor ?

I have changed the sensor now and the timing chain also I have changed the vvt motor and yet the light still is coming up can someone help

Thank you guys, the problem was resolved. It was the valvetronic motor. The whole job to replace the motor was R8000 which I had to pay R500 excess and Hollard MotoXtender covered the difference. Then I had to pay for the top gasket cover R1200 out of my pocket.

But the car is back to normal and drives well again. The question is whats next and what is life after motorplan on these cars?

I experienced the same issue today - only had this car a few days. Drove the car fine then when I started my e90 the second time, the light came on and it had little power. When I put it into manual mode, the power returned and I put it back into normal auto mode and power was still there...although there was a vibration when I went past about 100km/hr. The vib would be it needing balancing. Do you think it's the valvetronic? If i replace it myself, will I still need to take it into BMW to fix the error? Any help appreciated at this stage especially if it's gonna save me $$.

Your 320i will probably be worse on fuel consumption than the 323 and 325.

I drove for 650km my car to my holiday destination and it was fine when I switched off, but in the morning the following day the was a yellow engine warning light half shaded on the dashboard. When I drove the car there was no power I could not go past 40km/h, but when I switched the car off and start again everything seems normal except for the warning light. My car is a 320i , E90, 2007, 105 000km. What is causing this? Could it be loose terminal?
