It seems to be my turn to have problems upon problems.
Just fixed the broken flexplate and starter while test driving it to check if everything is fine the engine started to make a loud noise like a tractor, fortunately I was about 50 meters from home so i could creep home.

I checked the oil and its up to the full mark, the noise is similar to the tappet noises that you hear on older cars just much louder. Any suggestion where to start looking?
I would like to post a clip of the noise but the site seems to blocking me

Well did not get any takers for this problem, however had some "experts" come and give their opinion. They think its a diesel knock???

What I have done is to strip the Top of the engine down to the head (just covers). Inspected the rockers, camshafts and timing chains, all looks ok. No noise when the engine is turned by hand. Next took the diesel injector nozzles out (all 6) cleaned them up. Here I lost a tiny stopper just behind the needle on one of the injectors its size is no more than this O...impossible to find. Found a diesel injector place whom tested my remaining 5 injectors for me and found that 1 injector was not car down fuelling correctly, I somehow did not clean this one well enough, which they did for me. I bought a faulty injector from a scrapyard to get that small stopper I lost (was not going to pay R2500 to have my injector reconditioned nor a unbelievable rip off of R1200 for this tiny stopper from Bosch either) only paid R500 for the faulty injector at the scrap yard. Turns out that the injector is not faulty at all tested 100%:smilebounce:

Next step is to reassemble the car and hopefully the loud noise will be gone....

oh yes forgot to say , when i took the injectors in to be tested I used my BMW motor cycle, guess what? The battery died there at the shop when the injector testing was done:eek:mgwaiting: BMW does this stand for Bring My Wallet?
