X35i Engine Oil - No, not the thread you think it is

Hi Guys,

So, I've been doing some reading and have a thought that's bugging me a bit. Do you believe that the standard oil BMW recommends, still applies to those of us in the 400whp+ range? At 500 whp you're pushing double what BMW had in mind when specifying the recommended oil.

Now I know there's not many 100hp per piston N54's on the forum, but what's your take? Should we be using a heavier weight oil as the article suggests? Maybe something like a 10w50? or even the 20w50 discussed in the article?

I used this oil on my BT 335i. No issues. It's also being used on our BT 335i & 135i. Oil changes happen between 5000 & 10000km.
