X3 Fuel Tank not even close to 67L worried

So today i decided to fill up my X3. which is normal if you want to keep the wheels turning. So I pushed the till the trip computes said I had Zero Range left.

So fill her up, the tank capacity is 67L I ended up putting in 86.5L!!!!!!!

WTF???

So how does this happen? I can think of only 3 things

1: The Tank leaks - but then there should be a dam under my car - so NO
2: The pump is worngly callibrated and I am paying to much
3: my X3 has a long range tank - I have done a lot of 4x4 'ing and I never heard of a long range tank for a X3

So how do I check or determine where the xtra 20L went

Here is some pics to prove this is no thumb sucking exercise

:nonono: take a 20L drum to the garage and tell him to fill it up and see what it comes to, and if it's more than 20L then you've being robbed :fencelook:

Agree with speedy and twins, also go to the same pump. We had a service station and pumps were calibrated by the brands tech people that came out, i spoke to a few of them and they garenteed us pumps will not underfill because once the pump picks up air it shuts down

So I went back to fuel station today and took a 25L Jerry can with, at the same pump. So myself and the attendend fill it up to the mark and jip. 25 Liters in the can is 29L on the pump. So I went to confront the manager/owner the highest authority there. He showed me the certificate that the pump was calibrated on the 15th of Feb. He could argue the evidence so we agreed that he will have the pumps recalibrated and refund me if anyting is wrong. I should have been more forcefull but I didnt have the energy. So now I have to wait about a week. So if he feeds me BS how do I even the playingfield. How do I really know if the pump was incorectly calibrated. So from a negoitation point I am on the backfoot. I will just go social media to cost him some money in the future i suppose .

Wow thats BS! He better refund you... I mean you have proof that its inaccurate by filling a 25L can...

Hope you come right... In either case. Name and shame and if he sorts you out it can be a name and praise

This is what I would do.
I got my own print company. So I would design an a5 leaflet with all the graphics and a picture of the 25ltr drum and the story of what happened. I would then email him a copy stating that if he does not refund u like yesterday u would print leaflets and give them to customers entering his station. Can u imagine how pissed his customers will be especially if they fill by him regularly. With fuel being so expensive that guy will be in kak. People like that need to be exposed.

So just some feedback after a week the dealer phoned me and ask if i can come to the station. He had the pump recallibrated and showed me the certificate. he was actually loosing it was out by a few ml's. So we agreed that if i need to fill up i must phone him so that he can personally oversee it so i did. after 7 fillups since then the X3 hasnt taken less than 80Liters every time. I also filled up at 5 other stations to confirm. it looks like the X3 really does tak about 85L. so that is a weird turn of events. so ja the petrol station owner really took it to hart and kept his side clean.
