X3 consumption

I have a x3 3.0i auto with over 150 000 km on clock, I get ave of 12.5 l per 100km, which seems heavy as an ave for mainly town driving.
Is there any way to improve consumption and I am a conservative driver.

That is good consumption (12.5l/100km).

You could consider replacing the VANOS seals, it made big difference in the power delivery of the engine and improved the fuel consumption when i changed the VANOS seals on my wife's X3. She used to get 14-15 l/100km dirving mainly short distances, now it is back to 12-13l/100km.

Those M54 motors work well as long as the VANOS seals are good. If your car is already at 150000km, those seals must be gone by now. Does the car feel lazy?
