i test drove the new Nissan x-trail last year November, and was really impressed, was really considering trading in my 330d on it,but ended up getting a very well looked after defender 110,that way I could keep the 330d and still buy the defender.

reasons why I did look at it,is the 2006 navara we have has been bullet proof, the climbing in and out is easy, compared to my 330d,tend to fall in and battle to climb out of it,plenty space, had all the features my bm has except zenons and sun roof, but that is a minor, did I say lots of space.

if I had to chose between a x1 and the x-trail then would take x-trail,anyday.

and in case youre wondering why I bought a defender 110,its because I like them, have a defender 90 which I use more than the bm,easy to climb in and out off, plenty space inside and did I mention I like them alot

Ok. Opinions.
Isuzu KB 300 LX DBL cab auto
Toyota Hilux 2.8 DBL cab auto
Both have reverse cameras and touch screens and all that stuff. The isuzu has navigation tho.
Test drove both and leaning slightly toward the isuzu. Mostly cause to my eye it looks nicer, drive pretty much the same.

Toyota will hold its value much better come resale time, plus it's a brand new shape. Granted, the Isuzu was fairly recently given a rather extensive face lift.
Also, Toyota has dealers just about everywhere, if that matters.

Not considering the Ranger?

I have owned two ford's and they were both a bit shit. Both bought new, fiesta had mechanical issues and the focus had trim items falling off and paint issues. So not to keen to go there again. I'm also slightly concerned with hilux popularity with thieves. Not sure if it will also be an issue for the new model tho.

Have gotten insurance quote in the isuzu and it's R30 cheaper than a 4 year old 1 series. I wasn't expecting that. Anyway isuzu is offering R215k for my car, guess it's not too bad.

Toyota hilux is a high risk vehicle with regards to theft.
Insurance will likely be allot higher.
Besides the Isuzu offers what all the others offer plus more. Bullet proof work house engine.
Downside dealing with GM

Thanx guys, the isuzu is definitely top of the list at the moment. GM gave me three weeks to make up my mind so gonna use some of them and think about it properly.

I've gone through the analysis exercise again and a new X1 just doesn't make sense to me when compared to a demo-mileage LCI X3. The X3 is just so much more car, even though its interior styling is starting to date a bit...
