Hi,

Im looking to buy X1 2.0D (2011) for 200k with 77km on the clock ,there is comment on the system that the exhaust gas re-circulation was replaced after the car would not go more than 60KM. Is this a big problem or something that can reoccur again.

probably just a blocked Catalytic converter?
how much was the repair?

if it is a clogged cat, best you decat , it will slightly improve consumption and power and you needn't worry about it again.

I don't believe that they would clean a cat. They would replace like they do with anything else that fails. That is what franchise repairs consist of. Break/Replace.

Perhaps the OP used the incorrect term when raising the question here.

Hi,

I've had my X1 2.0d EGR valve also replaced last year as it clogs up over time and can stall the engine. It was a quick job (when they got the part) and stored in the comments like any other job done on the car. Probably a good thing it's done as should be plain sailing for a good few years!
