Not always. If you do lend your your, it your responsibilty.

I had a good friend and fellow froum member drive my ex-Merc into his neighbours wall. It was an accident and there are no issues about it now.

He offered to pay for repairs but I declined because I handed the keys over. I will still hand my keys to him.

To me its a Car which van be replaced, friends and family cant.

Another valid way to look at it. I guess at the end of the day it comes down to the person, how well you know their driving style and what experience you know they have. I would probably not lend an M5 to a guy under 25 who normally drives a 1.3L hatchback.

My 530d I would lend to my wife, my father in law and my best friend. My brother in law is quite responsible so I'd probably lend it to him after I go along with him once or twice.

For sure. I will not hand my keys to someone I dont know or trust. Especially if that someone is known to drive like a doos.

If I'm honest, I would if they have sports cars or I know of their driving ability.
There's something in my mind that says "okay look he drives an S whatever or an AMG what what, so it's a little easier to let go"

But there's just some people I would NEVER hand the keys to even if we'd been good friends for about 15 years

I give my car to only those I trust.

If I know from experience that you can drive properly then it puts me at peace more than giving my car to someone that think the sarel van de merwe when they not.

Close friends and family only though. Had a experience where I borrowed car to friend, he goy drunk and let someone else drive and car landed through wall.

Police come knock on my door, I'm I the owner :roflol:

I let you drive my e30. Hell I let you race, drift and spin it.

I'd rather have someone who will be "gentle" because the car is maybe "intimidating" to them than someone who doesn't have the experience and is going to try floor it going around a corner...

Just tell them because this is a high performance car you insurance will only insure you if you are the driver and tell they you dont mind driving the car used as a wedding car

+1! I think this is a pretty solid excuse. It's a delicate situation being close friends and family but I'm sure they'll understand this.

As for me I'm not comfy with anyone driving my car period!

HELLS NO!

by all means if they want to use your car for a wedding offer to suit up and drive the couple.

Just say the car is classified as a sportscar and should there be an insurance claim it wont pay out with another driver!

yes, it's a material matter, so is the a$$ kicking that's going to happen if the vehicle is damaged

personally, if they can afford to fix / replace it, then I'd consider it, else I'd be driving, else it's a no-go

imagine the bad relations with family / friends because they had something happen to the vehicle and can't fix / replace, seriously not cool

The thing to remember is that anything can happen while the car is in their care... even if it's not directly their fault. Fortunately my friends and family are to scared to want to drive the 540.

It`s just a car, and its insured. I have let my family/friends borrow all of my M cars, that includes E46 M3, E60 M5, E90 M3 and E92 M3.

Rule is though, if you bend you mend.
