Will removing my two silencer on my 335i e92 increase the fuel consumption

Good day all,

I removed two silencers on my BMW 335i e92. Apparently my exhaust system has four silencers and they only took two out. My car now sounds like an M4 now.

The sound is more loud and aggressive. in the morning when I start my car, it wakes up the whole complex. People even asked me what did I do to my engine and I didn't di anything. I just took of two silencers. So my question is, is removing the two silencers affect the car fuel consumption? if so how will it affect it?

Your response will be highly appreciated.

Regards

Did you remove the primary cats off on the two OEM down pipes?

Hi Sir,

To be frank, I do not know what is primary cats off on the two OEM down pipes but I can tell you that it was the two silencers on the end tip of my exhaust pipe not the ones next to the engine..... red circle.

those 1 called SPORT MIDDLE MUFFLERS.....

by removing them, will that increase my fuel consumption?

well being slightly less restrictive, the engine has less effort required to expell the gases, not being blocked by the slight restriction that a silencers

but

in reality, you love the noise/sound, and thus inevitably, you forget to drive cautiously and fuel-frugal

so you will probably have increased consumption

Ahhh you removed the rear muffler/silencers.

Do you have any drone at cruising speed?

regarding loving the noise you are 100% correct, and again Yes since the removal of the mufflers, I have been brutal with the gas pad because the more I'm brutal with the car, the car is louder and more aggressive.

thank you very much for taking your precious time in replying me.

I thank you.

I removed the rear Silencers off my 335i a few months ago, General fuel consumption is not higher, but I do drive more a hoonagan now and thus increases the fuel.

welcome to the forum...

if i am reading your post right you have removed the back boxes and replaced with straight pipe while leaving the primary and secondary cats in place???

this is counter intuitive to what the norm is and that is removing the cats in the oem downpipes and replacing with a pair or custom downpipes while removing the centre cats and replacing with freeflow silencers/resonators. leave the OEm back boxes alone...

what you have done shouldn't theoretically increase your consumption but your ears will tend to bleed from time to time..
