Wierd high pitched noise inside cabin - 2010 320d

Have any of you guys noticed a really annoying high pitched squeal/whine while driving? It sounds like it's coming from the speakers (not sure where else it could be coming from) and even switches pitch sometimes when it starts up but then keeps the same consistent pitch until it stops. It's so unbelievably quiet yet so unbelievably annoying since it's so high-pitched. Kind of has the same effect of a tv that's on, but on a channel where nothing is playing and all you get is that faint buzzing. It seems to stop whenever the car comes to a stop for the most part, but not always. Earlier I started the car up and right away it began. I've tried turning the stereo volume up.. down.. and completely off and it has no effect on the noise.

Its gone a bit louder now but shuts off immediately when i take out the key-fob or even just release the key-fob. Any ideas guys?

You need a new radio Ash, that was the issue with mine.

Shot thanks dude, the radio is working perfect so far excpet once in a while there is no sound when driving and have to switch the car of and on for the speakers to work. Maybe i have to do that. Will maybe attack this in the new year...

Shot thanks dude, the radio is working perfect so far excpet once in a while there is no sound when driving and have to switch the car of and on for the speakers to work. Maybe i have to do that. Will maybe attack this in the new year...

I have the same problem on my 2011 320d. I get the noise usually at speeds approaching 150-160. I think it has something to do with the sunroof because if I tilt the sunroof the noise lessens.

Hi Ash...i had the same issue...took the car in to bmw and they sorted it out...told me it was some fuse or something behind the radio that was causing the noise...they replaced it and it was gone! No issues since then...hope urs get sorted out bud. [THUMBS UP SIGN]
