I have just got annoyed in general reading this thread. You get the righteous *bleep* that drivies in the right lane at 120km/h (indicated). So he is pottering along at 110km/h. Feeling that he doesn't have to move over because he is at the speed limit (so he thinks). :argh:

Yes, but he's office bound and have no real life experience anymore. Didn't even have to wear uniform for some time and when he was asked to start wearing uniform again, complained profusely.:rollsmile:

Perfect way to catch speeding motorists- well that's the UK rule and it works - I sometimes hogg the middle lane and get guys coming from the extreme left to the the fast lane just to overtake me and go back to the slow lane. I then move over to the left . Discipline that's what it is and good managers I suppose
Having watched YouTube, I think we are 10000x better drivers than Russia.
Having a truck drive into us in Italy and whiteknucle taxi rides there, I think we are about 2.5x better drivers than Italians.
So I'd take our idiot drivers over some others any day - yes even our taxis arent that bad!

In Cape Town, most of our roads are less than 3/4 lanes so what happens is the people that should be in the left lane go to the fast lane to either go 1 km/h faster or match the speed of the left lane. Then you end up sitting behind this idiot who usually has nothing in front of him so is not being "held up" himself, but he will simply not move back to the left lane, and this is assuming that he is paying attention to his rear view mirror, or maybe he is but simply attitude driven to NOT get out of your way. Now I do not condone under-taking (slow lane), but sometimes this is all that you are left to do since these people clearly have no concern and/or logic with regards to rules of the road and being considerate.
Sadly many people don't look properly when changing lanes and pulling out of side streets - also most just don't use their indicators! Again, consideration - you are sitting at stop street turning onto a busy road, a car approaches from your left while the right is clear, but you wait since he is going straight, nope, at the last second he indicates (or not) and turns into the street that you are coming from by which stage there are cars coming from the right and then you sit, and sit... What would it have cost him to just indicate to let you know that he is turning off - in most cases there is plenty of time for you to then pull off safely and well out of his way.
The other issue is vehicles on the road that are not road-worthy, and for that matter the occupants are not road-worthy if that makes sense. Now defensive driving courses can only help train and educate you as to how to anticipate and react to this, but does not solve the ultimate problem.
Aggression and lack of consideration/ignorance is a HUGE problem on our roads and it sadly seems to be getting worse daily it seems. My opinion is that these driving habits are far far worse than general speeding for the simple reason that most of these people are simply not paying attention and due to their actions are already willing to use their vehicles as a barrier or weapon to convey their road-going demeanour. Law enforcement should be coming down harder on there individuals than speed infringements etc, but it is easier to have cameras for speeding...

all this crap kills me... including the damn taxis but what frustrates me even more..
This morning.. Female driver 320i - Metro.. no lights or anything weaving through traffic and cutting people off and almost hitting some of them... all while sitting chatting to the buddy in the passenger seat.. for me to keep up and ask her if she's stupid i did 170km/h...
she really did not enjoy the middle finger but hey... driving a metro car and driving like a $%#@%#$ seems to be the order of the day for some metro people...
This morning.. Female driver 320i - Metro.. no lights or anything weaving through traffic and cutting people off and almost hitting some of them... all while sitting chatting to the buddy in the passenger seat.. for me to keep up and ask her if she's stupid i did 170km/h...
she really did not enjoy the middle finger but hey... driving a metro car and driving like a $%#@%#$ seems to be the order of the day for some metro people...
