323000 Km?

Come visit me and I will show you what even 243000Km looks like on an M5! I am ending up having to systematically replace the entire car mechanically. this is not a golf, these things seem to wear at like 100 times the rate and need some serious mechanical attention and care to last.

I did contact this guy and he is very un-enthusiastic about even showing the car, so I don't know why he placed the ad in the first place.

People ALERT!!!!! This numberplate belongs to a Merc Benz Truck!!!!!
Something SERIOUSLY wrong here!!!!

:pimp:
Ok, so the numberplate should be CEY34960, 535i 1991 model, was stolen in 2006, and in 2007 already had 227k km on the clock. This thing was driven HARD because why else would he have made his numberplates wrong??

Nice spotting. I was speaking to the dealer the other day, and they say the number for cars that come in with plates not matching papers is staggering. Good few cars a day. They said close to 20% but I think that was an exaggeration.

Just a pity some poor (not so knowledgeable) guy is going to buy a stolen recovered 535i and think that he is driving away with a M5.

Hence the reason he is un-enthusiastic to show the car, he probably heard that Rick knew what he was talking about, and that would not work well with his scam...

Weird enough our African style Natis system doesn’t recognize any M5 registered before 1999 and therefore all e34 M5 were registered as 535i. They cant see what I am on about since the M5 is 3.5L. I had huge fights with the registration authorities with both e34 M5 I registered and just had to accept that there is nothing I can do to convince them they were wrong. It is Africa, so I should have known it from the start.
I have seen high def pictures of this car and the interior is trash

1 advantage of this is that the system brings up the 535 as 1400kg and the M5 is actually 1710kg, so one scores on licensing cost. Fools!!

You just made me haul out my reg papers to look, and you are right.

This is kind of stupid, no M5 designation, on the reg papers it just says 5 series even though the weight an Kw are correct.

On the last roadworthy they used 540iA (because they couldn find m5 I suppose)

The on my insurance schedule they list it as an M5 (M50) No such thing.

On the BMW makers plate of the car it clearly states 535i/M5 which is even more bizarre, even though our M5's were SKD kits built on 535 chasis at the factory, so that probably explains that one.

So the car in the ad is probably a real M5 registered as a 535i, only way to tell if you have a genuine one is look up the chassis # on the parts system.

Whatever, I have confirmed mine is a very real M5 at least. :joy:

I wish I could find the true history on mine. Even though the body has zero repair work, the broken engine mountings, replaced engine in 2006, replaced transmission in ???? and ripped rear transmission mounting bracket sure could tell some stories if they could talk.

I don't even want to think about the bright pink fingernail I vacuumed out from under the centre console.

Oneday i will affrod a new ///M and not have to repair somebody elses "fun"

I agree, this engine is pure art in it's simplicity. It's a 232Kw brute without the electronics.
