Who owns MOTORPLAN

and I don't mean independant private policies,,, I mean , if this is a type of policy then it must be owned by someone like Zuma or Tokyo Malema....or SA eagle ... U get the pic.

ALL NEW ITEMS COMES WITH A MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY, so Motorplan should only kick in after 3 yrs on a BMW cos it comes with a 3 yr warranty .

All new BMWs come with 2 year warranty and the 5 year maintenance plan from date of 1st registration controlled by BMW SA. That's how I have it..

As far as i understand, a warranty would only cover items in event of complete failure, not service items due to normal wear and tear such as oil, brake pads, plugs etc. the Motorplan covers that, unlike in UK/Euro/etc which does not unless one asks for the MP package (and increase in price).

The MP is compulsory in SA with new BMW, maybe we should be offered the choice and have the price reflect that...can worms, now open

Ok, so my my E90 had a 3 yr BMW warranty as standard . Here first service trigger was around the 12000 mile mark and cost £180 for the first service.

That was after 18mnths.

Everything else right up to a sqeeky drivers seat ,wind noise from windscreen and heat plae replacement was covered.
It's as though you guys are paying for a double warranty.
They ought to give you a service plan option at point if sale- they do that here but not on M cars

I agree that warranty is there.
But the warranty will only cover a failure of a component.

Motorplan will cover wear and tear. e.g. brake pads, disks, wiper blades, shocks etc...

washer jet failure
Stiff backrest operation
Exhaust rattling baffles
Identifying shudders
Issues with I drive
Shuddering clutch on take off
Modulator issues

Perhaps, you guys could name few possible issues and I will check if covered by warranty.

Servicing parts and labour
