Just spoke to Mr. Maidi... he is SOOOO pissed!!! :argh:

Car was INDEED sold to him as a 330d, and even on the paperwork of the "voetstoots" agreement, it says 330d.
I told him to check on the licence papers, but he said he was still waiting for the guy to give it to him, but the car is already in his name.

I told him to get an attorney involved, and the CPA, as a SERIOUS case of fraud and misrepresentation was done concerning the car, and he has FULL right to return the car and get his money back!!

Anyway, I gave him my office number, and told him he is more than welcome to contact me. :thumb:

Nice! That's the way to do it. Good work Cois! Can he not check against the VIN? Cos if you get his VIN you can check on realoem, quick and easy way!

I advised him to take the car to a bmw dealership, and have them confirm the car details to be sure, but c'mon guys, if it looks like a turd, and it smells like a turd, then most likely... its a turd!!!

Open the bonnet: Is there 6 pistons in the engine (eg. zero space in the engine bay) or is it a smaller engine?

Either way, that is still a decent price for a 320d.

saw an E46 325i the other day re-badged as a 330i, the owner was so convinced his car was a 3.0litre even though his car had 16inchers and black door handles.
I got his VIN and showed him the true specs of his car - left him speechless. :nonono:

:nonono: you are left to wonder how many people have been conned out of their hard earned money because they are not street smart. its criminal to say the least - what would that seller say if he was called out for false advertising by one of us. :argh:

It's very true Mike,I think the rate at which people are falsely told about what model their car is is potentially high, because they may not know that much about it.

Would be awesome if we had a "Consumer Section" on the forum where we could put ads like this in there and notify relevant people, whoever they may be. I would hate to spend,say,R300k on a car I thought was a 330i only to find out it was in fact a 323i or a 325i (talking about E90,cos those three are VERY difficult to tell apart visibly). That would be criminal.

Of course, this would be an administrative nightmare to sit and trawl Autotrader and the like all day looking for ads like this,so it is very hypothetical.

It would help potential BMW buyers to cross-check the car's VIN on www.bmwvin.com or realoem.com. Most people don't know about these sites, I for one found out about them less than 6months ago - out of luck really.

Scammers... :argh:

Have a look at the side images of that BMW. One can clearly see from the images that the LHS of the car and the RHS of the car has indeed been in a terrible accident. There is a major panel gap between the LHS rear fender and rear door... There is also a major colour difference between the rear fenders and the rear doors. Im thinking that this car was written off at some stage and someone pulled a few strings at the licensing department. Shame for the new owner...
