Need to fit new tyres soon, and Good Hope are pushing Korean Roadstones big time at R995 each - anyone know if they ok? I want to change from 225/45/17 to 235/40/17 on my stock 330i rims - any thoughts? Dunlop SP Sport are only R100 more, with the same v tread pattern. I obviously want maximum grip and max life, which are not exactly synonymous. Advice please!

If the Dunlops are R100 more per tyre I would go with a brand that I know. Whats the guarantee on the koreans?

Have a look at what a set of Khumo's cost. I had a set fitted to the front of my e36 when i bought it 4 years ago.. the tyres have done approx 40,000 km's now and have looooooooooooads of tread left.

I didnt rate them when i saw i had them fitted, but they were for free so i didnt moan too much. And i am glad i didnt !! VERY impressed.

BUT.. when i went to price them a couple months ago for my e46... they had gone up in price a lot. Lots of people rate them as a good tyre now.

Have a look and ask a few questions... worth a try

I havent had issues with dunlop sp sport, but I have heard of many many problems. Dont get random cheap no name brands, tread pattern isnt the most important aspect of tires, its compound is what matters.

A good tire for its price is a hankook or kumho. They offer decent grip for the price, and last a while.

Tires are the very last place you wanna cheap out if you want any performance in your car. I had Dunlop SP7000's on my car when i bought it. Hard as shit and super noisy. Got the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym's on now. Really awesome tire, though doesnt last too long.

I took my car to tiger wheel and tyre 3 times on there new top of the range super duper alignment machine. Every time it didnt feel right. Took it too the dealer and they aligned perfectly. But you pay to have it perfect, was nearly R1000 if i remember correctly.

I found thar the operator is more important then the machine. Some people just know what to do.
