What oil temp does your n54 run at?

So...know these motors run hot but what exactly is hot?

Haven't seemed to get a conclusive answer on the net. What temps are you guys getting on normal use and under load/wot. Im referring to those engines with oil coolers. I'd be interested to know....

Initially it was 110 deg constant going to 115/120 under hard driving... have seen it go to 125deg under really prolonged back to back pulls but after the BMS thermostat mod it has come down to 90deg cruising and 105/110 under the same hard driving...

110 when up to temp. That's cruzing or traffic. I've noticed if it's a super hot day 35ish or so, traffic driving goes upto 115-120. Only been above 120 when really pushing on hot days a few times

What's the BMS thermostat mod? That's some good improvement in temp reduction

Thanks guys. That mod is def worth it for long term health. My experince with the n54 engine has been between 115-120 deg C (more towards the 120 deg c mark tho) under normal driving and up to around 125 deg C after some hard driving. Too hot for my liking.

Its a replacement thermostat that allows for continuous flow to the oil cooler as opposed to only when the oil temp gets too high. But Kish can tell you more. He's a guru with these motor's.

Modded thermostat has the trade-off of oil taking longer to warm up from a cold start... but that reduction in oil temp is totally worth it.

Stock I see 110 on highway or in traffic & nearly 120 after a bit of spirited driving.
