we have 2 x 318i
the 2004 Auto gets between 12l/100 & 14l/100 in town when my mom uses is & 17l/100 when I use it.
the 2000 318i Manual I can get about 350 to 400 Km out of a tank.

It all depends on driving styles, but the 4 cyl engines are underpowered & have to work harder to get the heavy car moving therefore using more petrol than a 6 cyl when driven normally

Really likeing the Turbo Idea, but like the Gizmo said, might have a small space issue. But you got to love that sound a turbo makes and that extra bit of oomph will erally help.

I need to get my car to a dyno as I susspect the cats are dead or killing the car a bit. 4th gear at the moment is dead. It just seems wrong, like it changes to soon and there is no real pul. 3de is awsome and 5 goes ok but running out of rpm's way to soon.

Another thing i noticed is that there is no real difference between the Sport mode (steptronic) and normal A/T. Only ddifference i gues is in AT it changes gear at 6.5k rpm and it "sport" it changes @ 7k.?

So dyno diagnostic is a must i need to get done ASAP. perhaps even just a remap.

lol dude, there is enough space for a turbo, if they can fit a V12 twin turbo in a E30, I'm pretty sure something can be arranged for a 4 banger in an E46 lol.

yehp, the sport mode just changes shiftpoints and such.. engine power stays the same..

I really wanna see you turbo this thing dude :) it will be EPIC ..

Spy... you know what, sell it and buy a V8...

Looking at Andrews consumption, if yours is the same, the V8 will give you better consumption, mine is giving me 13.3 according to the OBD, and I let her stretch her legs very often... like twice a day :)

AFAIK the e46 330i Brakes need 17" Wheels...

Yes you do however the 330 calipers ad discs are just bolt on...hence why I said these and BBS LM's.....also you''l definately need them if you are going to turbo the car...even then I would rather go the supercharger route than a turbo..much better suited to a BMW engine...and go for a twin screw...awesome

Would love to sell and buy V8 But that wont happen. I have had the car 5 months and just no money for big expense again, like car payment. Still leaning to the Clutcy Idea, but never though of supercharg.

MMMM

lol, supercharger is gonna eat half your power just to run the charger, turbo u are using waste gasses.. its much more efficient in the end..

We supercharged our E46 323i with a vortec V2 charger and on 0.7 bar boost we went from 92kw to 147kw at the wheels!
we took of the charger and turbo'ed the car and on 0.7 bar with the turbo it made 207kw on the same dyno!

Charger runs in constant boost and you need to fuel for the boost so consumption is very bad!
Turbo car only boost under load!
