WHAT MAKE OFF FUEL IS BETTER

there is a difference just try different brands and youl see especially on the older cars
consumption up power down on one brand next one power better consumption ok then one brand all ok
i had it where i used total that my car will run ok with the one tank and the next one it detonates from the same filling station one week apart
bp give me the best result overhaul
caltex give me half the km per liter than any other fuel
i suspect that the additive adders at the depot sometimes slip up and you get base petrol with no additives

I filled up with BP after finishing the Engen and power definitly down again.

I remember reading in a financial magazine BP top brass here in SA going on about how commited they are to clean fuel, and I beleive it, may not give the most power but every tank is the same and the car never pinks with it.

Hmm intersted to try that then, my car pings a little with Sasol, but it pings with just about everything.

i find that when i change to another fuel the car feels a little down no matter what i change to... i think you have to run two tanks of the fuel so the second tank will have little or no other fuel in it...

I use only BP just because its convenient for me, but when ever i fill with another fuel the car does not feel right for a bit... this could all be in my head thou :)

I use shell mostly for both my cars, dont notice a huge change in the 325i between fuel brands, but i have a Ford Ranger 2.5tdi too and find it runs best on shell, smokes alot more when using sasol and is sluggish on total...

I think this goes for Diesel aswell, on my Navara 2.5dci it runs alot better on 500ppm Sasol than on 50ppm Sasol, the engine seems quieter with 500ppm to. :dunno:

With the transportation strike, I filled the Dynamic with 500ppm (BP) at the tank we have at work, and she also seems quieter ans smoother... economy seems to be the same. Maybe the 500ppm lubricates the fuel system better? :dunno: BMW only recommends 50ppm Diesel thou.

500ppm is better for everything but the diesel particulate filter. It will clog up the filter much quicker and the car will go into limp mode to save the turbo from the increased temperatures. This will take a couple of tens of thousands of km though. If you use 500ppm just in emergencies, the filter will still be able to regenerate again when you put in clean fuel.

So P1000, if I lets say do a 500ppm tank after 3, 50ppm tanks it should actually do the car good? I run the Navara now on 500ppm al the time, its cheaper and there is no specification in the manual other than not to use lower than 50ppm diesel and she does feel quicker... :dunno:

I don't know the exact ratios for whats healthy for the dynamic. I do know that a particulate filter for that car would be in the region of R25k, so rather stick to 50ppm if possible. If you want to you can add 300cc two stroke oil to lube the pump and injectors. Make sure it is non-synthetic JASO FC oil, though. On the Navara there should be no reason why you cannot run 500ppm.

Overall i get the best conumption and performance on BP
Sasol makes car seem like its got a bit more torque or slightly powerfull (if that makes sense)
Total and Caltex makes car seem to feel down on power kinda flat..

spoke to a guy who transports people on trips and he swears by 50ppm diesel in his vehicles as they run better and he gets the best economy vehicles used are Mercedes Benz Vito's

I personally think the differences are so slight in reality, but both of my vehicles are on a healthy Sasol diet (petrol and diesel) - this started when I was trying to find a filling station that had 50ppm diesel and the closest one at the time was Sasol (of all filling stations) opposite Cape Gate. In years gone past I used to mostly use Engen and even for quite a while their 97 Unleaded - they were the only to supply 97 Unleaded at the time...

BMW dont recommend All sasol based petrols at the reef, ony their diesels. Esentially all fuel at the reef is from Sasol with the exception of BP and Shell which get trucked in from the coast. The Sasol based fuels have an additive called MMT which is know to block CATS and build up on spark plugs reducing life.

BP all the way! and Sasol occasionally... but now that you mentioned that anout the CATS... :dunno:

Methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT or MCMT) is an organomanganese compound with the formula (CH3C5H4)Mn(CO)3. Marketed initially in 1958 as a supplement to the gasoline additive tetraethyl lead to increase the fuel's octane rating, MMT was later used in unleaded gasoline.[1] Although banned as a gasoline additive in the United States from 1977 to 1995, MMT has been used in Canadian gasoline since 1976 (though was banned from 1997-1998 due to safety concerns)[2] and was recently introduced in Australia. It is sold under the tradenames HiTec 3000 and AK-33X.[3] It is also marketed as Ecotane by T2 Labs.[4]

I tried Engen, this tank, car seems to like it, Caltex next

Based on some of the responses here, I'd say it would be best to alternate through all the brands. That way you get the benefit of all the additives :mmm:

Well Caltex with Techron has a good rep, Shell is supposed to add "oxygen" to their fuel, BP is supposed to be extra clean, Some Sasol is made from natural gas and should be low sulphur, Engen is supposed to be "dynamic" whatever the hell that means.

Almost all unleaded is now marketed as "cleaner unleaded" How's that for an admision they were selling us dirty shit a few years ago...........

I think I need to buy a few mothballs for the tank as it's supposed to work.

Already tried the acetone thng, didn't make a smidge of difference.
