What put me off from the start was the constant, "my V8 is thirsty, so pay me to come out to you" - not my (as in client) fault that you are using your V8 for business!! :nonono:

The guy is just unprofessional.. Email and pm'd him twice,no reply. Rather give your business to guys who know how to do business and besides, his work isn't all that either

Well,

In his defence there is nothing wrong with charging a callout fee.

I cannot phone a contractor these days to come and do anything without a call out fee.

You call an alarm guy out and its R300 labour + R400 call out before the dude has touched a tool, and virtually every profession is like that.

When I do remote diagnostics, I have 2 prices, one for coming to me, and one for going out, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Im not saying charge R1,200 or even a 3rd of that of it, dont rip folks off, but I see nothing wrong with a callout.

SecondSkynz's fault is that he would not look after his customer.

It was also not really his direct fault the the tints failed, I dont think it was the application, I think it was the material. Maybe it was his fault that he used cheaper materials, but should have had recourse to the supplier, and ultimately... Sort out the customer....

No no, call out fee is not really the issue - fuel isn't cheap these days, but driving a V8 for work is more a choice than a requirement. So build that in with the quote since it is a "value added" as they say - just found the constant remarks about asking for petrol money because his V8 is thirsty a tad unprofessional. At the time I said nothing but it was interesting as things unfolded and went bad how this aspect played more and more into the various scenarios. At the end of the day, the work done and after sale service is what counts, and I gather that was the problem.

Aftersales is the most important thing, in fact the sales experience is the most vital part of purchasing an item or service.

I learnt this the hard way at MINI when I allowed my service levels to slip and found myself being pulled apart by my clients, dealer principle and manager which ended in suspension.

Those two months of suspension gave me the time to realise that people by from people. This is a huge part of the success of MINI as a brand. Its an experience, its constant love and attention from the word go down to that phone call two months in just to check everything is alright.

Hence why (and without making this thread about me) I strive to give the absolute best quality and service in my business. I would rather tell a client I cannot give him what he wants as apposed to leaving my client underwhelmed.

Honesty is fantastic and vital but there are some things you simply do not say to your customer. I would love to buy Jandre's E34 540i but I cannot justify the cost a "want" would bring me. Telling your client your V8 is thirsty to justify a call out fee is madness.

I charge if I travel further than Durbanville or Tokai respectively in Cape Town but I work out the fuel and make sure I do not charge more fuel than the actual car would use.

At the end of the day, your client comes first. If there is a problem with the product or service you provide then make provisions and turn the situation around.

Second Skynz could have turned this around and instead you guys could have been praising him now.

*Runs off to reply to various PM's I have not yet responded to.

really?

So are you tellingme its a bad idea to give them some business?

Dude,
What you looking at having done?
Second Skynz did a vinyl wrap on my roof and it is peeling along the roof beading on my E90 (in my opinion, the beading is supposed to be wrapped seperately and not together with the whole roof)
In saying that, i found somene else, a friend of mine that will soon rip the old vinyl off and replace it with a new one
