R331,500 for mine according to that site:fencelook: But I assume it doesn't take into account the M Sport package and extras. It would be interesting to see the e46 brochure with the options list from back then. Anyone got it?

My e46 325i Individual was R327 000.00 new with CD Shuttle and Sun Roof as options. It was R289 000 without any options if I recall correctly.

Mine came with M sport pack, sunroof, electric rear blind, ipod integration, runflat monitor, auto lights, rain sensor, heated side mirrors and auto dip rear view mirror (not sure if this was standard on 04 models). So maybe R350-380 with extras?:fencelook:

Currently insured at market value for R119. Not bad for a car that's almost 10years old if you ask me.

Heated side mirrors were standard on the 6-cylinder models. I think it was closer to R400k with all the extras when new.

Ok so going back to stats 101 here's something interesting:rollsmile: If I take the estimated new value of my car back then and use it to calculate the future value today based on 5% average inflation, we can see that car prices have not really increased, but rather increase more or less in line with inflation. So here's my calculation.

Estimated present value of the car back in 2004 = R380000
Average inflation rate over the past 9 years (Rough estimate) = 5%
Number of periods = 9 years
Future value of my car today= R589,504

Now a quick autotrader search would suggest a similar F30 328i M Sport (I took the most expensive 328i on autotrader) is roughly in the same price range:idea:

M5 701,000. 50,000 pa depreciation
X5 571,400. 53,000pa depreciation
635csi 257,384 8576pa depreciation

To give you some idea... using the 635csi launch price 1976. This would be equivelant to a 1.7Million rand car today.

When the Csi launched it was teh 4th most expensive car on sale!
I got that stat from Car.

Btw I have every Car magazine from about Sept 1996 - interesting reading going back and checking prices and performance.

My search

My search says I should have ventilated front discs. I dont think I do. Maybe they have put normal discs on when i bought the car?

Ventilated discs... you are probably thinking of drilled:

I think you will be hard pressed to find a car that doesn't use ventilated discs now a days.

It is shocking to see some of the losses that we have to take when buying a new car and trading in after a year or two.

Has to be done though.

2008 135i Manual Sport pack - R465K.

That can't be right, can it? Not in 2008. That might be the last recorded price before the FL came out?
