Not really. The thing is, I would have had to buy a torque wrench to do the job right. Moneywise, it was pretty much the same story. Yes, I would have had the wrench if I had done the job myself. It would have looked nice sitting unused on the shelf in the garage. Oh well...

Hey gents. So today saw me in a bit of a pickle. Last night while leaving my moms birthday party, I heard this nasty cluck sound and then an intimitant squeak sound. I turn around and pull my car in by my dad and left it for the today..

So I get there this morning thinking it's probably the handbrake shoes that came loose. So by only do I nearly die of a heart attack at what I see, I nearly fainted as well. I found that 5 bolts on the driveshaft were loose and one missing. I then bought new bolts, replaced and made sure all is well. Then I adjusted the brakes and cleaned it up. Then did further inspection...

I nearly cried finding that the universal joint was buggered. So it meant that I needed to strip out the propshaft. So my dad is quite an old school kind of guy and walks into the garage and says, seeing as you busy there, strip out the box and replace the clutch. So what went from being a routine check and fix up turns out to be a week long job and hasn't come to an end yet.

I replaced the battery on the E36, gave it a wash and took a few rare pictures of it :rollsmile:

Decided to figure out how to attach the removable towbar. The key was broken off in the lock, so I first had to dig that out. Luckily I have a spare :)

I then added padding behind the back lining in the boot since I think it has a tendency to move around and make noise. Now the fit is snug with just enough play for it to not be rigid.

Lastly, the clips that secure the plastic "bucket" behind the rear armrest to the car had broken, and since BMW wants a silly amount of money for then (relative to the material and function) I decided to use good ol' cable ties :) That too is now secure and cannot move around and as such cannot cause squeaking noises.

I almost want to bet that I have the most noise and rattle free E65 7-series in the country :p

I just read through about half this thread.

And it is sad to see so many active Fanatics posting pictures and doing all sorts of things to their cars but yet no fanatic stickers are present on any of them.

:cry::cry::cry:

Gave my beast a good wipe with Wolfgang Instant Detail Spritz and shone it with a micro fiber cloth. That was the dust from Killarney that I wiped off. Manged to take some snaps at the mall.
