DS is just a sports switch or button. The revs climb by about 500rpms depending on the mods on the car...mine jumps to 700rpms. Meaning in DS mode the car shifts at higher rpms and provides a more spirited, power drive. You can feel this behaviour better when taking a turn/cornering - in D mode the gearbox would downshift (depending what gear you were in). But in DS mode due to the higher revs maintained, downshift might not be needed keeping the car very sharp allowing you to pounch on the accellerator when exiting out of the corner...D mode would feel "lazy" in the corner/turn. DS mode keeps the engine in the socalled "sweet spot"

Finally, when in DS mode you can also drive the car in manual mode.

I personally only use DS when overtaking/cornering or when up for a race. My car becomes really "onbeskof" in DS mode...
