Wet Footwell

Hi guys

I have water leak somewhere in my E36. When it rains heavily or the car goes in for wash then there is large amount of water which collect behind the drivers seat, under the carpet floor. For the life of me I cannot figure out where its coming from. Ive checked all the window seals, door rubbers and even went as far removing the back door panel to see if the vapour barrier was the cause and still couldnt find anything.

If I park on a slop facing front downwards then the water doesnt seem to appear but if the car is the other way around (rear at a slope) then the water collects there in a nice deep pool.

If anyone has any suggestions with regards to the above mentioned Im all ears.

Next step is to throw some goldfish in there as an added mod:rollsmile:

Goldfish mod...

Are you sure the water does not come from driver's footwell?
There is a drain hole underneath the passenger footwell but for water to enter through that you would have to drive through really deep water (or launch a jetski - don't ask me how I know...).

Edit: there is also a drain plug in the sparewheel well - perhaps water is getting into the boot?

Yeah if one say had kids they'd be entertained to an extent on road trips watching the fish swim in the car, hahaha.

Thanks for the suggestions. I can confirm that even if it has rained overnight and the car has been standing still, the water will pool there. I'll have a look in the spare wheel well. Maybe it is something there but I still dont understand how the water disappears when the car is facing front down a slope and the rear is elevated. Ive lifted the carpets as much as I can but wowzers, where the water comes from is a mystery.
