Hi Guys,
Perhaps I've joined the website prematurely as I am not driving a BMW as yet, but was looking to get some advice on the right model for me as I am due for an upgrade and I have always been a big BMW fan (way before Montoya made F1 so much fun to watch

without ever having owned one. I can't stand Audis, so I bought a Volvo S40 T5 in 2007 and had my fill of 2.0T grilles in my rear view over the years. My pops had a 325i at the time that I found very much more exciting to drive than my s40, albeit with the same power output, more or less, but he couldn't keep up with T(5).
I see that the dealerships are now offering R60K trade assist, which finally brings a brand new Beemer within my reach but I am unsure of the one to go for. I'm not really into 4 cylinder BMs (no offence to the 320 drivers) and although the 325i offers good overall performance with reasonable fuel economy, the 330d is a downright banger that'll do more damage (to Audi) with less trips to my local engen. The problem is, 330d is 50 grand more and, according to the mechs I know around town, more susceptible to engine failure than the longstanding straight six two point five. Added to that, the 330d (and 330i) are only 10-15 grand cheaper than 335i. Now as much as 335i is a known guzzler (my brother has the 1 and hes constantly complaining about gas mileage), I'm pretty sure that driving it on a daily would be lur-ver-lee, plus I heard that it'll chew up a V8 M3 if one takes it for a software upgrade...which means that it'll beat an RS4. Perfect. To all of the 35 owners - is it really that heavy on gas?
Lastly, I once had a 320d give me a bit of a go off the line on Witkoppen road - he was next to me for all of first and second gear! Do any of you guys out there have software upgrades with cars still in motorplan? No issues with the agents at service intervals? I would hate to lose my motorplan before expiry date due to 'tampering'.
Any thoughts/comments are welcome.
Thank you and kind regards
