ok the noise on the pump is worrying me...

called the guy a bought the pump from to find out if its normal for the pump...

he called the workshop that normally take these pumps to find out if they have had a problem...

the workshop said they have not had a problem with the pump and that there is probably a blockage in the system somewhere making the pump not get enough fluid...

anyone know what areas i should look at 1st to try find the problem?

Moranor, I'm planning on fitting mine this weekend and will let you know if I have the same problem. Are there are special tools required for the swop?

thanks PrevanP let me know...

looks like ill be taking all the pipes off the weekend to see if i can find a problem...

i think you might need a torx bit to swap the brackets over to the new pump... the other tool you might need to get the fan off if its in the way you have already made :)

Moranor, was the power steering pump from Martins a straight fit? I could not get the mounting points on the pump and brackets to line up. I also noticed the that hoses won't fit exactly to the same points on the replacement pump and may require some mods. I didn't fit the pump and instead did the control arms (which is a bitch of a job) and the front shocks. Going to do back shocks tommorow

i think you need the flat back pump then mine was strait fit just swap brackets over and bolt everything up...

Ok cool, that makes sense cos the pump on my car does have a flat back. Hopefully Martins have the flatback pumps.

the road back pump gives you more steering feel you can fit it but you will have to change the pipes and modify the brackets...

Is it a big job to modify the pipes and brackets? Would I need to make up brackets or we I buy them?

Oh, btw did you manage to solve that noise problem with your power steering pump?

still working on the noise trying to bleed it more did not help ran out of time yesterday... going to remove the pipes now to have a look...

i dont know how the brackets are different so i cant say about that... with the pipes you just need to buy the pipes that fit the other pump... they only put the flat back pump on for i think about a year then changed back to the round back because people complained they had no feel... think it was 2001 models...

I went back to Martins today and swopped the round back pump for a replacement flat back pump. Fitted it and its working. Also noticed it to have slight noise but having driven with my noisy OEM pump for so long I can't recall what it sounded like when it was working properly.

The car is running great after the new control arms and shocks went in. Feels much more solid now on bumps and dips. Next thing I need to do is the tappet cover gasket and then replace the water pump. Do you want to do a joint purchase from Turner Motorsport?

I want to replace the water pump asap but want to put a good quality pump on. Any idea how long it will take you to get them?
