WeBuyCars being skelms

So I guess they like cash guys more than finance

You can be in and out within 45 minutes if you're buying cash. Their model is built around voetstoets deals, auctions and the trade. If SA was not full of scamming and dreaming private sellers then WBC/Wheelie etc wouldn't exist. Unfortunately here we are.

Cool. WBC said to my folks that someone offered cash..so yeah...

That being said this is nonsense :ROFLMAO: Very conveniently the day your parents are there yet there are guys all around the car with different clients.

There is probably a reason this car never sold on auction and ended up sitting for as long as it did (and it was likely not because of your reservation). BMW can get their checks and balances wrong from time to time too. Hopefully you did dodge a bullet on this one.

Take it as "It wasn't meant for us"

The Almighty probably saved you from buying a lemon.
Yes, it’s quite suspicious that when my parents went in, patiently waiting to discuss with the sales manager why the sale was cancelled and to get a refund, they had already sold the car first thing in the morning to other clients. It feels like they took advantage of the fact that the car was "pre-approved" by BMW to make a quick sale. The sales manager blamed us for the delays, claiming it was because we arranged our own financing and warranty. However, when we initially viewed the car, we provided all the necessary paperwork from the bank, which was already pre-approved. WBC had more than enough time to process everything. They claimed they could only hold the car for 72 hours, not 2 weeks, but those 2 weeks were caused by their own delays. They said they took the car to BMW as a courtesy. But They took too long with BMW’s inspection - they delayed it by a day despite us booking well in advance, were slow in providing the bank with the invoice and OTP for the purchase, and failed to properly communicate with BMW about what was unclear. Relying on just an email from BMW wasn't enough to clarify the warranty issue. They blamed the poor communication from us on how to proceed. Despite us sitting there on two separate days waiting for them to sort it out, and we just sign off.

We're going to hold our funds, and hold out for another car, or buy a new car from the Japanese.

Read the T&C's at WBC when walking in. I have purchased well over 20 cars, fuck lets call it 35-40 from them if we take my company purchases and inspecting cars for friends who end up buying them.

Purchased cars cash, auction, and finance. I bought 4 cars from the same guy in Epping, only the 4th one was i even present to meet him face to face the other 3 was over the phone so to speak with someone collecting on my behalf. I walk give them my phone number tell them look how many cars i have purchased, i intend of buying XXX car so and so, are they willing to help or is the comms not enough for them. If not fine send someone else my way otherwise get the keys and lets get going.

If you go to WBC thinking it's the normal dealership experience you clearly misunderstood the assignment. It is a volume driven business and either you put out the cash or they move on if they have another interested party. I once had them keep a car for 2 weeks reserved for me no issues.

If the car was that good, buy it cash and refinance it. Never had a sale guys complain when i pull out by diagnostics and spend 15min diving into the faults logged before we even move off.

Thanks for your advice, and I appreciate your perspective. I understand that WeBuyCars operates as a high-volume business and doesn’t follow the traditional dealership experience. However, my frustration stems from how poorly the delays were handled. My parents had everything in order—pre-approved financing from Standard Bank, and warranty from BMW, and we were ready to finalize the deal.

The real issue was WBC’s lack of communication and delays on their end. They assigned us two sales consultants because the first one didn’t fill out all the paperwork. All they needed to do was sign off on the warranty and provide the bank with the OTP, but instead, they sat on the issue for over two weeks. We even spent two full days at WBC trying to sort things out, but they weren’t clear about what was needed from BMW.

I get that cash deals move faster, but given that the car was pre-approved, we expected a smoother process. Unfortunately, the delays and miscommunication on WBC’s side ultimately led to us missing out on the car. Maybe next time, we’ll go with cash upfront to avoid this kind of situation.

The whole WBC argument about BMW warranty is that it is not clear and that the client has to wait 30 days for approval on it. BMW then replied saying that there is no such thing, and warranty is active the moment it is signed. WBC wants it on paper, BMW says it is already there, and what else can they put???
What's the current price for the BMW extended warranty? (I'm assuming a 2018 model would qualify for the prestige plan)
