What piping are you using? May i recommend using coolingmist nylon tubing....some of the locally made piping are fractionally smaller in diameter and thus do not grip properly in the push in connector..

where are you based? i have small offcuts of coolingmist line, that you can use to test if this is indeed the case?

It's the piping which came with the kit, AEM branded and everything.

According to the manual it's 1/4in piping.

I'm based in JHB / East Rand. Thanks for the offer German_spec, if I don't come right I may bug you on this.

If it leaks between the nozzle & pump inlet than thread tape will fix it.

If it leaks between the nozzle outlet and the piping then going a larger size piping will fix it.

Update: so I think it was leaking from the nozzle outlet where the piping fits into. That being said, I think I remedied the situation by making a few adjustments etc.

Anyway, everything is installed. Going for a tune next week. I thought I'd revive the topic of water:meth mixtures. What is everyone using?

(And yes, I've read the blurb on strong meth mixes being a fire hazard etc).

I run a 70% meth mix more often...sometimes 100%. Water is good for cooling.

If you're running high ethanol concentrations, then up the water mix, for cooling. As youre already running high enough octane.

If you dont run ethanol, run higher meth concentration, to help boost the octane.

Personally depending on the time of year, in winter 100% meth. Summer, 70% meth.

Got word back from my tuner earlier today, he says 100% meth, or an 80:20mix.

So I've decided to go with the 80:20mix. The bit of water will help with cooling, and the high meth content will bump up my octane nicely and both of these factors should mean a good increase in boost.

The bit of water in the mix should also make things a bit easier on the pump and components, even though they are 100% meth compatible

Gavs , tell us more about your 130 turbo, sounds like a fun project

Well, I'm fitting a Precision 6262, and planning for 1.5bar boost.

Target = 400kw / Rowen 1M eater :rollsmile:

Now that the day dream is over, back to reality....

I found a couple of vids showing flammability of meth mixes, thought I'd share:

Tests done.. % mix water/meth changed, and ign source flammability test, with combustable (paper) to show actual flame, as meth burns without a colour.. invisible...

100%, 50%, 40%, 30% meth tested

100% Meth - Flammable (no sh1t sherlock)

50% Meth - Flammable

40% Meth - Flammable

30% Meth - Not Flammable

and what it looks like in indy racing... when on fire... (poor b@stards)
