Water in passenger footwell

How much for this panel below the windscreen, anywhere I can buy it except the stealership?

had the same problems with the XR6 and the e46. fixed both on the weekend. I pulled out the carpets and found...

1. A small hole on the e46 passenger side. it was about the same diameter as a Bic pen (WTF?). I closed it with Silicon. All seems okay now. I was going crazy with all the condensation on the windscreen.

2.On the xr6 I pulled out the carpet on the passenger side and I found out that the drain plug (the round rubberish one) was missing. I closed the hole temporarily while am hunting for it at the wreckers.

Can you please help on where you found the hole on the e46, it looks like mine has a similar issue, there is water coming in somewhere because the windows fog up immediately when there is even only a drizzle. Was the hole in front or the back?

About getting the stink and water out of the car: Put your home vacuum cleaner in your car try to vacuum up most of the water (wet & dry vacuum cleaner) and after that run the vac in the car for a few hours, the heat generated by the vacuum cleaner will get rid of the water and the stink.

The hole was in the front on the passenger side. since I used silicon things seem ok.

One thing baffles me though; how did the hole come about?

Are there any signs of rust?

Weird thing on the E30's - when I stripped all the sound proofing padding from the engine's firewall on an E30 I was restoring a few years back I found big uncovered holes in the firewall, the car quite clearly coming from the factory like that.

On the E46 it might be something similar, the bodies are all manufactured standard to take different engines and set ups, and something is supposed to go into or through that hole in another model, but not yours/ours.

On my 1 series it was caused by the rubber holding the windscreen peeling off due to some windscreen cleaning additive I used, I sealed with silicon and it's been over a year now no more problems
